You can get the ZS with a 1.4, but it wasnt sold in the UK, i think Ireland got the 1.4. The UK got a 1.6 K series (110ps), a 1.8 K series (120ps), an L series diesel and the 2.5 KV6 (180PS). There wasnt a turbo ZS, but people have started dropping turbo charged engines in to the 120 as they are a bit underpowered. And they go pop every so often unless you install the engines upgrades to stop the HGF. Ive also seen a turbo charged VAG engine in a ZS, but that was also a custom job with a fair amount of modification.

The ZT 160 was a turbo 1.8 K series, but AFAIK they were just as bad for HGF. The ZT also got the 2.5 KV6 (in 190PS guise and confusingly also detuned to 160PS), a non-turbo 1.8 K series (that may or may not be able to move), a BMW-derived diesel M47R and great big mustang 4.6L V8 (the ZT 260), which being a yank V8 has a wide range of upgrades, the most common being a supercharged pushing the output to over 400bhp. Was also converted to rear wheel drive, and was put together by Prodrive. Nice.

Not an update, as I havent actually done anything to the car for a while, but I saw this on one of the MG forums; comes from the AutoExpress Best Cars of the Decade item:

Have to admit, it made me smile.

Made me smile as well.

RX8 the handling car of the decade ??? In the same decade as 911 997 and Nissan GTR ??? Right, right. :rolleyes: Only last RX8s (R3) had been praised for handling, after Prodrive refined that Ford design with a Volvo torsen diff. First gen was very easily lost on any wet surface.

And I would really like to know what AutoExpress understands by "Performance". Seeing the presence of some of the models, not much apparently...

I'm not dissing your Honda/Rover, I had MGs myself. ;)

Some scientific index behind those freakishly detailed percentages would help to uncover their madness.

To be honest DaweV6, I dont put any stock in pretty much anything AutoExpress have to say, but I thought it was entertaining all the same. The fact that they dont have the Honda Integra in the handling category pretty much discounts it as useless.

And Sidrick, you're probably the only one. Unfortunately, the money has run dry for this for the time being, so updates are going to be few and far between - its just about all I can do to keep petrol in the damn thing. I knew this period was coming, though, and planned for it by paying off the insurance premium in one foul swoop last december. Christ knows what Im going to do come renewal time, though, as it wont be pretty...

(i do have a soft spot for the MK2 saloons though :innocent: )

I love this motor. Just post some fresh pics up man :)

Alright then, I can do that...

I don't think I said that when I decided to put an amp and sub in the boot, that I decided to make a false floor out of mdf;

strengthened underneath with some braces;

Yes, I went a bit OTT with the screws, but I was enjoying myself so what the hell

I havent got a pic of it, but I decided to saw down the middle and put a couple of hinges in, to make removing the floor and accessing the spare wheel easier (or possible, even).

Random pic

And I've been looking through some old phone pictures I have, and found a couple of the MG and a couple of the escort from when it was snowing last christmas and the year before, so I thought Id share;

and the escort;

Finally, planning for when funds allow, Id like to get a twin exit exhaust (one of the few optional extras mine didnt get), and Ive been photoshopping to try and figure out what exhaust tip Id like;

small circles

big circles

oval

and I was just playing with this one, I think quad exhausts its two too many

And again, too far in photoshop?

Token phone camera photo of the ZS looking dirty;

Because this update is actually more about the escort, which has now moved house.

Found a guy to transport the car on AnyVan.com, which actually a damn useful site, you put an add up for what you want transporting and where you want it to go, and traders make bids on how much they'll do the work for. Genius website, and recommended.

On the trailer, looking somewhat sorry for itself

In its new house

http://i1100.photobucket.com/albums/g407/Caled10/MyCars/Photo-0096.jpg

Looking a bit dusty, and sorely missing its angel eyes and fogged + bibbed front bumper.

http://i1100.photobucket.com/albums/g407/Caled10/MyCars/Photo-0097.jpg

Hopefully at some point in the not too distant future, I'll be able to get this back on the road and give it the attention it deserves. Had a chance to have a look underneath whilst it was up on the trailer, and seems in pretty good shape. One of the arches is bubbling, and the exhaust is spewing orange water, so will need them sorted, preferably including a s/s cat back, and Id like to drop the skirts to have a ganders at the sills, but all in all not too bad.

As for the ZS, still contemplating one of these;
