Ahmotorsport
Did start buffing the Imp up on Thursday. Bonnet came up very very shiny, shame it's completely the wrong colour? Tried sanding out the runs on the front wing, rubbed through on several occasions, bonnet and wing respray already, not a good start. Trying my best to get it out the door, it's buffed up nice so far, very little orange peel, mirror like reflection, but where the runs haven't quite come out there are small white bits. If that makes sense? Also Oops http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/Impthrottlebodies.jpg
Andyb0127
Sounds good chris. Only reason i can give for bonnet being different colour is, the paint you got for the car did it come inperate one 4-5 litre paint tin or was it seperate 1ltr tins because if it was seperate tins and you used these on at a time then who ever mixed your paint could of three right and one tin could of a few grams under or over depending on what tinter it was this will make a difference to the colour ie the bonnet being of colouf. The white bits your on about could be compound sitting in micro blisters from Tiny blisters in the paint can sometimes be caused by overly thick application of paint allowing the outer skin to dry before the solvent has evaporated from underneath. It's like, a white run, which makes them more noticeable
Andyb0127
The whte run your on about is the pigments in the paint, even the colour is blue it obviously.has quite alot white in it which means whede the run is its dragging the white pigment and showing a white outline around the run which is what you can see, bad news chris is that only wat to get rid of this is paint it again . If the paint was all in one tin, then the only other explanation could be air pressure setting even tho this may only be a few psi/bar it can make a difference to the shade of the colour, all the paint we do at work we use 2 bar of pressure. The mix for 2k solid colours.will vary some are 2:1 ten percent thinners; or 3:1 ten percent thiners or even 3:1 no thinners. With spraying the weather plays a part to specially with air dry things like atmospherics play a big part. Its easily done chris i.had a mk 2 escort and couldnt wait to paint it but guy training me kept saying dont rush it hence to say i did and it looked rubbish but we have all done it mate, best solution is to polush what you can so yohr happy with it then juat tame your time and repaint parts neccesary. Times like this i wish closer id of given up a sunday.to help you and brought some spray guns for you to try and use and show you best way to spray. I think i'll stick to what i've got for now (apart from parts i have to respray) Thanks Andy. You've been a big help throughout.
Ahmotorsport
Throttle bodies arrived today. I've been talking to someone who's turbo'd an Imp engine with these, the injectors should be good for 130BHP so unless i can find some higher flow ones, thats the figure i'm after. He said he had his up to 170BHP (875cc engine) i'd absolutely love that power. Throttle bodies arrived today. Ahmotorsport
Got the ol' girl out the truck today, flatted the runs as best as i could, otherwise i'm just gonna rub through and i don't want to repaint the whole thing all over again. Polished it up, came up nicely (Thanks Andy!) Got me new steering wheel on too, made the steering so much nicer, it's easier and just generally feels a lot better, my knees also fit now. You know me.... http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/P141011_1022.jpghttp://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/P151011_1242.jpgRear negative camber! http://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/P151011_1344.jpghttp://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/P151011_1414.jpghttp://i958.photobucket.com/albums/ae68/Ahmotorsport/P151011_1452.jpg
