Naylor2006
Good evening to you too sir. Digi gauges look well mint. Can you do them in any colour? I hate wiring like that, daunting for a lot of people but worth it if all goes right How bad is the bootlid? Thanks man, yep any colour you want, just gotto get the LEDS in the colour of your choice then take things apart. Happy to do yours for you if you like. It is daunting but it just takes care, I imagine it's the same for body work but I'm terrified of that! Think the boot needs some welding to be honest, tempted to see what Cofton can do, you know that place between me and you.

They mainly do insurance work which means £££££££££££. A quote to fit me a new bonnet, spray it and tops of wings, including a small dent.......£660. Naylor2006
I'd pay that just to get the thing sorted, it's proving to be a pain to find a replacement, the way I see it is that it will need a respray whether I get a replacement or fix this one. Need someone to paint match as well, I've been told that buying amperio blue paint won't necessarily match my shade
lee grout
Well if you dont mind paying then so be it. One thing I will say though is that I think their quality of work is pretty good, Especially as they do insurance work. Not like dealing with a dodgy back street garage! It's just prooving too much of a pain, there's no point getting a second hand one unless it's mint and I'm never gonna get one in the right colour, so I'll have to fork out for that anyway. Yeah i suppose if it gotta be matched anyway. There is a guy in dawlish who does spray jobs and airbrushing work e.t.c. Pop in if you get a quote from cofton, then it wont hurt to ask him as well and compare them. Killer paint As you come into dawlish, turn left as though your going into M&D hire, then through the gates and its on the left, top right hand unit. Looks like nothing from the outside.....er or the inside really but look at his work and you can decide. A quote wont hurt either way. Naylor2006
Hello all, just a quick update. Well ive been side tracked again, been umming and arring about how to remove and properly paint my calipers for a while now and what i've done is go a bit nuts and decided to powdercoat loads of stuff. So I have bought another set of front and rear calipers, new front discs, new rear discs, new pads all round, another engine rocker cover and a spraco strut brace. I dont have any pictures yet as it has all been sent to away to be powdercoated in blue. Its being done by a chap on here and Im not gonna say his name yet incase he gets 18,000 pm's about doing someone elses, however if he is happy for the business he can put his name to this topic, what a legend anyway He's also shot blasting it all first. Hopefully soon Ill have pics of it all to post then ill wait till I can take the car off the road for a couple days and fit it all up, then post pics of all of that. I hope to get a full spraco hose kit also to match the blue, should look 'show' then Sorry guys, once again ive got distracted from refurbing the cossie rims and boot lid but this oppertunity just cropped up so I had to take it! JC
Is it a front sparco strut brace? if so don't bother with it! I wish I had got my calipers powder coated first lol!

It's certainly going to look good and I'm glad I'm doing this way rather than removing my calipers ans spending a day hand cleaning then hand painting, least with powdercoating you know the paint is even and I am awful at painting. Yeh it's sparco, are they not very good? Bit late now it's already being done!
Hezz
you want the genuine ford brace, or matman does some exact replicas for £50+ in a range of colours
JC
Having had 3 types, the ford genuine one is the best, as it is of a solid design, thus does not flex
Naylor2006
Thanks for the info chaps, it's too late though, I didn't realise ford even did a gen strut brace for a mk6. Still, there's plenty of time and I can't wait to fit all the powdercoated kit!
JC
it was a cabby part, that fits the hatch fine. there is a genuine front lower and upper available

Blimey you have gone a bit mad Lol!! Look forward to seeing it all done though. Unless its a racing machine I wouldnt worry about the type of strut brace either. All offer different levels of stiffness but unless its a track monster a single strut brace wont make it suddenly handle like a touring car! I like the fact that more is being done instead of the wheels.
