mcflycossie
Right little updates. Since the last update I have done the following New Timing BeltOil Change & New Oil FilterFuel Filter ChangeNew Airbox (this one had a massive hole in the bottom)4x New CV BootsNew Front Lower ArmsNew DroplinksNew Front Brake Discs & PadsSorted the power steering leak. Fitted Smoked Headlights. I still have a battery issue but I think this is because the car needs a long run to charge it fully. I now have a horrible clanging noise coming from the exhaust/cat. Not sure if the cat is goosed but it sounds sh*t when revs. I have also got some new wheels for her. They need a refurb but look good I think. New arches have arrived as has a new boot. Some pictures: New Boot http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/096-9.jpg Cleaned up the engine a little. Still alot more to do. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/IMAG0206.jpg Smoked Headlights Fitted http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/IMAG0209.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/IMAG0208.jpg New Wheels http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/IMAG0221.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/IMAG0220.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/IMAG0207.jpg%5B/img Battery tray is in really great condition. So fitted one of those Acid mats to keep it that way. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/IMAG0222.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/IMAG0223.jpg I think that is it for now. I hope to get the rear arches done soon and then stick her in for MOT. Oh as soon as I find out what that clanging noise is. I also have started to fit the front bumper so will get another snap of that when done. I know it still needs a wash but were getting there slowly
HIGHTOWER
Did you check behind the plastic behind the battery? My battery tray was good, like that but there was a massive hole behind that plastic!

mcflycossie
Managed to give it a quick wash. I don't think there is actually any polish on this car any more lol. Will give it a good going over after the arch is done. Managed to get the front bumper on. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/IMAG0224.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/IMAG0225.jpg

shawdreamer
has that new bootlid seen some previous repair, theres definetly something going on with the paint to the right of the plate recess, looks like it almost went orange peel during curing. mcflycossie
Time for an update in this. I now have the GTI back from my mates and to say I am chuffed is an understatement. The car is not far off being mint like it once was when I owned her before. Anyway I'll let the pics do the talking. They are little crap as it had started to get dark. The car still needs a clay and a polish but looks great already. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/GOO008.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/GOO010.jpg New arches http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/GOO006.jpghttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/GOO004.jpg Now believe it or not this is the same bootlid. Before http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/IMAG0183.jpg After http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/GOO005.jpg And believe it or not he repaired my bumper using a cut out sections of a broken spare one. Before http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/IMAG0173.jpg After http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/GOO015.jpg All the little scabs are now gone and the car is starting to look pretty mint. I also had the underneath undersealed. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/bgreenslade/GOO016.jpg I will be putting the OZ Super T on when I have time and money to sort them out. What do we think ? Safe to say I saved it from the scrap heaven )
