Registered on the 01/03/2001 so one of the first Y plates issued. This is a Beautiful BMW E39 530D SE Auto tourer. Also has the benefit of a couple of optional extras being the full electric memory comfort seats which has every thing electric including the headrests and M sport steering wheel where reach and rake are also electric. As standard has auto wipers, headlight washers, dual zone climate, front and rear parking sensors etc etc.

has only 117K (lowest I saw for my budget) and due to needing a service including fuel filter (causing a slight lumpy idle especially from cold start) we were able to blag that the car needs LOADSSS of work and paid just £2000 for it :)

Averaged 38.1 mpg for the test drive and drive home (where I may have gone a teensy bit north of speed limit) with the aircon on, lights on and wipers. Not bad for a 2.9 litre 6 cylinder Automatic nearly 2 tonne estate car with a clogged fuel filter and filthy air filter.

Tow bar was only fitted last year and receipt was included and has MOT till april and tax till september.

Faults with it?

well apart from service needed, bonnet badge needs replacing as W is missing, couple of centre caps have corroded too, couple of tiny marks here and there (wayyyyy better condition than any of my cars bar the mk1), a blown reverse light bulb (gonna order error free LED reverse bulbs), dirty leather (but being that I'm a mobile leather repair technician, hardly hard)

The question is, can you fit a sofa in the back?

I assume you dont really have any 'mods' planned for it?

Nah, no mods mate, just going to fit bigger wheels, put a K&N filter in, drop the rear subframe and pollybush the lot, thicker front ARB, headlight eyebrows, stickers the length of the boot, vented discs and pads, get it remapped, rip out the BMW interior trim and put my own version in, change the front grilles to later versions, fit LED bulbs everywhere, a xenon conversion, delete the rear wiper, fit offset M-series front wishbone bushes, paint the rocker cover, add chome sill covers, fit an m-tec gear knob and change the headunit. So no, no mods really, it's just a work hack.

you bet he has

Could be good.

Who has diagnosed the lumpy idle as being the fuel filter? I've a fair bit of experience with these cars/engines, and a poor idle would concern me.

that sounds like a lot more than a dodgy filter
