After cleaning the wheels you should spray them a graphite grey type colour I rubbed down all the underneath with a wire brush, then i sponged it down, let it dry then sprayed it on. No longer have any mark 6 Escorts, but still have the cabriolet! The new engine is in and running, will get some pictures up as soon as possible.
