tomsy
This is looking like a really interesting project love the idea of a mk5 dash in a mk6. Your a lucky chap doing the job you do and getting the use of the equipment, keep the updates coming
danj8608
Would rather the wrc bumper and spoiler over the cossie kit... liking the progress so far.
the_big_man
i'm not a fan of the wrc kit. looks too much like the japanese bodykit for me and doesn't suit the escort but it is each to there own at the end of the day. Not wanting to sound harsh by that at all...just my opinion. Thanks for the comments though guys, am happy to be able to get the car done and do something different with a mk6 than the usual mods Def worth doing the dash swap in my opinion, i think the mk5 dash looks nicer than the mk6, but again, thats my opinion! the_big_man
Not much to report as work has been really busy. Finnaly got my 2.0 back to the workshop and stripped a few bits off like the torque converter and the hoses and wiring (except injector rail and throttlle sensor). Need to get it onto a stand and then strip down ready for cleaning / painting and maybe some internal stuff Also had to put the car outside as taking up too much room inside and needing the 4 poster ramp again...unlowered it only just came off cos the skirts and bumper, lowering it may prove to be the very last bit!! Pics http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/l99amm/1385629_10153333860240018_771873156_n.jpg how have people blocked off the egr system ? http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/l99amm/996962_10153333860465018_1064659898_n.jpg that bumper and wings will be going at the weekend as real nasty and don't line up good enough for me. got my full cossie wings ready to be repaired and trial fitted this weekend / next week. Am needing a zetec engine mounting (back left corner) as have currently got the 1.3 oe and pretty sure it won't fit!!
scottybo
theres no egr on there. u only have to look at the exhaust manifold for that.
the_big_man
if definitely did as i removed it If you also look at the bottom of the manifold you can see a hole which is not a lambda sensor hole

sidrick
Nice updates. Looks like a lot of graft is going into this!
the_big_man
a lot of graft is one way to put it! Am having fun getting the parts needed to bolt the engine and ancillaries to it! Should be getting a loom and flywheel and clutch this weekend along with p/s pump, rack and alternator. Just need a decent gearbox and some other bits then it can go in the hole where the 1.3 currently sits and then i need an ecu An expensive time ahead! Pushing the mechanicals at the mo rather than bodywork. wanna get everything working and then take the engine out again etc to paint and rust protect are you still wanting 1.3 lump scottybo? the_big_man
Slightly busy week this week at work but managed to get some stuff done. Got myself an engine stand for £47 from Sealey's Have managed to get the manifolds off and started cleaning the engine down ready for a repaint and major clean. Cambelt is off along with the water pump awaiting a new oil pump, water pump and oil pick up and sump. during the week i ordered a new flywheel and clutch for £40, expecting used items i was preparing for a new clutch but it turned up as a BRAND NEW flywheel and BRAND NEW Motorcraft Clutch ..... result Then, today i got my power steering rack, full zetec wiring loom, alternators, radiator and gearbox. So all in all its been a good week, managed to get some bodywork done but not as much as i would have liked but, apparently i'm at work to work on customers cars not my own ?!?!?! lol Anyways, enough talk...pic time my car and the other mechanics 300zx twin turbo monster!! http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/l99amm/IMG_2780.jpg tighter fitting front end loosly bolted together, needs mounts remade for sides http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/l99amm/IMG_2779.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/l99amm/IMG_2777.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/l99amm/IMG_2775.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/l99amm/IMG_2774.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/l99amm/IMG_2771.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/l99amm/IMG_2773.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/l99amm/IMG_2757.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/l99amm/IMG_2755.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/l99amm/IMG_2730.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/l99amm/IMG_2749.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y247/l99amm/IMG_2751.jpg
