the_big_man
small progress again....i REALLY HATE bodywork!!! but anyways, fitting of the rear quarter extensions to meet the boot spoiler, looks messy but needs doing and blending in, also have managed to get the bumper mounts rebuilt as the old ones were crap and the bumper fell off when i caught it on my trousers the other day. so to fix that issue as the old ones were a bolt blended into fibreglass was to cut up the original mk6 bumper and tigerseal the crap out of it and then fiberglass it to the new bumper, not finished yet but is a million times stronger than the old mounts. Also managed to get some orange indicators but they need a little tlc so undecided on them. i like orange / amber lamps but they are just so damn expensive and i can't find amber light tinting spray, just smoked, blue, red or green :/ small piccies for you all http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/1653980_10153682070460018_1519579993_n.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/1555441_10153682069870018_652468067_n.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/1555353_10153682069590018_1532835412_n.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/1557287_10153688097825018_1589395135_o.jpg
the_big_man
Not a lot new. Workshop has been closed so now needing to find a new home for the car ???? But managed to get my rear discs on and working last week so not all bad. Exhaust is all in place but hitting the axle so will need sorting out. Fitting the spoiler and having to full where there was a huge cutout in it. Never mind... the_big_man
Starting to get fed up with bodywork... just gonna pay somebody to do it. I'm happy doing mechanical stuff and wiring but hate bodywork. Anyways, got one recaro in... had to use fiesta mk3.5 runners though so have lost height adjustment now :/ Also had to move the car to my new job which is next door to a bodyshop...win win Update picks http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/35ECB040-AA24-4F23-9B79-67A160D38354.jpg back seat junk yard lol http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/ADC39383-E3B9-4938-824D-E001A2EB1AA8.jpg Yet another set of mk5 dials, cosworth style dials worked but gave wrong readings on coolant gauge and rev counter so got these from breakers for £10 http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/1824AE1C-FFE2-4C81-940E-F353957C6BB7.jpg And standard rear lights http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/93D38423-BB8C-4F8F-B1DC-BAA45E358F97.jpg

the_big_man
Not updated this in quite a while. Haven't been able to do much at all as the new garage I'm at is really quite busy (Is good but bad). Only things to report are that both seats are fully bolted in and the 300mm setup is in and working well. Managed to get the wiring sorted for the dash now so all lights work etc. Wired in the electric windows fitted the motors etc and they all work first time Only thing left to sort is the cosworth boost dials still not working due to resistors missing off the back and not knowing what resistor is required. also the centre console needs fitting once the handbrake lever is moved across to the LHD position for a mk6. Got some 24mm wheels spacers for the fronts to fit too. Not many pics other than how she sits now with mondy wheels as didn't like the look of the team dynamic monzas. http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/074.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/075.jpg this was a nice mot http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/088.jpg 6.75 v8 http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/089.jpg also found a pic of my old 1.4 escort mistral with my mates si fiesta http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/094.jpg
lee grout
Im glad this is still going but shame you've not got the time to crack on. Anything on the horizon nearly finished bodywork wise?
the_big_man
Not a lot has happened bodywork wise. Am hoping to get a random orbital sander tomorrow so I can make a start on repairing the front bumper, any advice on blending in the rear quarters? Also what have you used fuel cap wise as I would like to retain the fuel flap for originality

Also what have you used fuel cap wise as I would like to retain the fuel flap for originalityNo real advice, just take your time to make sure the join flows nicely. Every now and then spray a coat of primer. When its all one colour its easier to see the lines of the shape your trying to get. When its multi coloured you cant tell anything! Ive not used the flap. Ive used a alu flush fitting kit I had knocking around. Would now of prefered the flap but I got rid of it and covered everything up fitting this one! the_big_man
Had some fun with the car today. Managed to get my new wheels spacers on with longer studs and finally sorted the engine support bar so the engine doesn't try escaping any more. Erm....centre console is now fitted after tinkering with the handbrake lever position and making new holes for it as the mk5 is different :/ Only other thing is trying to sort the rear quarter extensions and waiting on new rear spoilers to turn up. Won't be long before I hand this headache of a car over to a bodyshop!! Pics as always http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/297EC989-CB88-4EC1-88B6-EDB3DE7562FF.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/7500532B-3EF5-4156-89B3-8EAC68ECB20C.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/B6649052-C352-481D-B6F8-C48F10B7BA4F.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/140702EA-88B2-4C78-9C85-63AE2F3A6BAA.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/4F409866-A8D2-4F05-91B9-866CDB3F128C.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/76252044-E285-42F4-9B73-2B67CC577009.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/D3867AD1-2AA2-4798-AAB6-4A492FE38AAD.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/541B3F96-3474-41C4-808A-E5A008A727AC.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/cosworth/3BE0F692-DF1B-40F3-9154-4C0FB868D86C.jpg
the_big_man
Evening. Can't believe its been nearly a year since i last played with my escort...work commitment and ill health does that. Still have the old girl and found her a nice dry home to sit in. Acquired my self a genuine cosworth bootlid and spoilers yesterday and also thought if i'm trying to make it a mk5 why not get some doors. So i now have two of those as well from a 5b. Hopefully i can make a start on some bodywork and sort the electrics which seem to have stopped working for some reason but thats a minor thing in the scheme of things. new bootlid fitted http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/WP_20150706_001.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/WP_20150706_003.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x448/the_big_man1/WP_20150706_002.jpg I do want to loose the pins as think they look a bit tacky
