Escort Si-130
if you can still gain access to the boot, then there is a knob to the right at the top of the boot. Pull it, this is to let the rear seats down, you would then have to crawl in through there into the body of the car.
mikes-fat-arsed-estate
wooo hoooooo did it : )i opened the boot and pulled the little release cable but nothing was happening the seats must have been left in the position for a long period but after a sharp kick of frustration the lower half flopped down , it was not all fun & games trying to squeeze my fat a*se through such a small gap while suffering from claustrophobia.luckily the door just opened as normal from the inside.thanks guys for the fast responses , next tip i need is the roof motor i hear it trying but nothing happens

Escort Si-130
Oh, I forgot to mention you had to push the seat back down whilst pulling the knob, although glad you figured it out.Roof motor could be cogs broken internally, or just need bleeding. Try bleeding it first. You may find a few tips etc on Escort Cabriolet club wooo hoooooo did it : )i opened the boot and pulled the little release cable but nothing was happening the seats must have been left in the position for a long period but after a sharp kick of frustration the lower half flopped down , it was not all fun & games trying to squeeze my fat a*se through such a small gap while suffering from claustrophobia.luckily the door just opened as normal from the inside.thanks guys for the fast responses , next tip i need is the roof motor i hear it trying but nothing happens
PeeWee
I was under the impression you could not gain access to the car via the boot on my cabby?I locked my keys in my boot one and had no way from the car inside to my boot?
mikes-fat-arsed-estate
thats a good point ^^^ if you locked the keys in the boot how could you unlatch it with the cable being in the boot. on the bright side i just went and got a cheap £5 key cut for the escort and it opens & locks the doors beautiful
stEVO-Cabby
next tip i need is the roof motor i hear it trying but nothing happens The roof will most probably be hydraulic (mine is) I’m no expert on this as mine has only stopped working once - but the time it did stop it simply needed topping up with oil.My motor is located in the left of the boot under the carpet. There is a reservoir attached to the hydraulic motor. Top this up to the fill line through a very small opening on the top (takes bleeding ages). If this is the problem (most common) then your roof should be ok after.A silly question but i am presuming you unhitched the handles at the front of the car? Danzetec
I was under the impression you could not gain access to the car via the boot on my cabby?I locked my keys in my boot one and had no way from the car inside to my boot? The boot is a lockable enclosure for security because the roof is made of fabric, the release cables for the lower part of the seat are inside. The glovebox is also lockable but that is in no way 'secure'! Edited March 29, 2014 by Danzetec

As for the roof hydraulics they will need bleeding, I have a post that tells you how to do it somewhere. http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/forums/in...394&hl=roof Edited March 29, 2014 by PeeWee
