JC
are they R1R's? be interested to see how you get on with them, I'm looking at federal 595RSR's when I can afford to replace my tyres Yes and they are awesome! Not to be confused with the poop T1r They are track tyres, a mate of mine has those federals and does not rate them, as struggle to get and maintain heat I choose them over r888 for the price, and slightly better in the wet preferred them to my bro's R888 Worth every penny for on short sprint tracks and full race tracks legal to use on the road cheapest place i found was ebay, then demon tweaks For road use I use prada spec 2's, as my replacements for the discontinued good year f1 For winter I use good year ultra grip and for the spare pirelli p6000 - as an asymmetric spare is silly! ScORTED
to be fair we're comparing apples and oranges my cars a fair bit lighter than an escort, a lot of guys who race mx5's run the RSR's as they get a lot more mileage out of them than R888s and the R888s aren't much grippier, also the RSR's have good enough tread to use in the rain. Thats my plan, to run M+S tyres on 14" steels in the winter and RSR's in summer as I'd be concerned about the wear / cost of the R888s

ScORTED
sidewalls are pretty soft on the T1R's I found them fine on one of my escorts though, not as good as Eagle F1s
Naylor2006
sidewalls are pretty soft on the T1R's I found them fine on one of my escorts though, not as good as Eagle F1s I always match all 4 of my tyres and never need to replace more than 2 at once, i'd need to buy 4 of those Eagles but after a quick google they do look the bizness. Come to think about it i dont think ive ever lost grip, you have to drive pretty hard in the dry and I dont really entertain speed at all in the wet, my insurance company arent every gonna pay for my car to be repaired even though im fully comp, they'd write it off for the most minor of things im sure. JC
Couple of random pics: For those asking, I have cossie calipers, marked 888 /887. ST24 278mm brakes and st24 pads. 3mm spacer behind the disc, extended slugs, and spaced bolt. which means sits perfectly flush and snug behind a 15" RS7 http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac263/lordjc1983-2/Silver%20Escort/IMAG0842.jpg http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac263/lordjc1983-2/Silver%20Escort/IMAG0843.jpg New discs http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac263/lordjc1983-2/Silver%20Escort/IMAG0841.jpg Black diamond drilled and grooved combi's, with ds2500 pads, braking power is awesome, so much better than standard stuff or ford Order the discs from demon tweaks and got sent rear ones for a cougar and nearly went mental, but they were really helpful, contacted black diamond direct and had some made up and delivered within 2 days and came and collected the incorrect ones and discounted the correct set. Perfect customer serivice! Given up with JJC race and rally who sent the wrong parts: http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac263/lordjc1983-2/Silver%20Escort/IMAG0840.jpg Anyways lots of parts fitted so it could be used and abused: http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac263/lordjc1983-2/Silver%20Escort/IMAG0876.jpg http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac263/lordjc1983-2/Silver%20Escort/IMAG0878.jpg Filthy after a days use at Llandow, vids to follow oh and the nasty rover that cut me up and got black flagged...
