reid
wee bit more done tonight, and FINALLY got the crank sprocket i needed so the engine will hopefully going in 2moro! back arches; arch on and bit cut away so that door can openhttp://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh37/srj_mcsar/ABCD0017-2.jpghttp://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh37/srj_mcsar/ABCD0018-3.jpg the rest of the arch bonded onto the door;http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh37/srj_mcsar/ABCD0006-2.jpg door closed;http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh37/srj_mcsar/ABCD0009-3.jpg looks rough as fcuk atm but will look better 2moro when its dried and i've fibreglassed it. should also get the 2 pieces to sit a bit closer together. made a start on sorting out the loom. fcuk me it aint for the faint of heart.http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh37/srj_mcsar/ABCD0007-3.jpg engine bay (with air con and zetec loom out) ready for the turbo engine to go in 2moro.http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh37/srj_mcsar/ABCD0008-3.jpg but i noticed this and didnt have a clue what it is.http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh37/srj_mcsar/ABCD0019-3.jpg it was just infront of the drivers side wheel arch, and has pipes (that i always thought were breathers) that go to the inlet manifold. the thing smells of petrol. pipes that connect to it.http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh37/srj_mcsar/ABCD0020-2.jpg anyone know what it is? reid
what exactly does it do?
Stu
what exactly does it do? The fuel tank vents through it.. it's a legal requirement. Nothing is allowed to vent from anywhere but the exhaust system! You can just vent the tank under the bonnet where the pipe already runs. Or in the wheel arch. Whatever! Dubs
Rear arches are looking good mate. If you're gonna use the wiring diagram i sent you, you'll need some of the zetec loom. I just used the wires i needed and then cut out the unused ones after my engine was in and running.
reid
cheers stu, so io can just leave the box where it is, or just move the pipe itself to the wing? Rear arches are looking good mate. If you're gonna use the wiring diagram i sent you, you'll need some of the zetec loom. I just used the wires i needed and then cut out the unused ones after my engine was in and running. what bits of the zetec loom are still needed mate? ive taken out the whole zetec engine loom. i was just gonneuse the ignition live from the fusebox. Stu
reid, i'd scrap the box and tie up the pipe somewhere.

You won't need a lot if you're wiring direct to the ignition switch tbh The colours are for the zetec loom. Off the top of my head, the oil pressure switch (to oil light on dash) .(green/black), tacho(black/white) ,alternator(battery light on dash)(blue/black) thermostatrad fanand some wires that run to where the speedo cable goes into the gearbox iirc

The fan i was gonna have on constantly, the alternator light runs alongside the starter loom that ive kept. the oil light im not that bothered about as i';ll have an oil pressure gauge. the tacho is the one im interested in, does yours read right? when i changed to the mk6 dials in the mk5 cab it read double, ive got the wire from the RST loom for the tacho but where does it go? *Add guessing the thermostat ones for the fan? i might put it back in if its easier to keep the dials reading correctly. I'm just going by what i did with the loom James sold me as per the wiring diagram tbh mate. I suppose you'll have some connections on the rs loom that i didn't have on mine. My rs loom didn't have a plug for the thermostat so i had to use the zetec one. Everything else i've listed is not applicable because you have already sorted an alternative out. I should probably just stfu now
