reid
well engine fully wired up, and started plumbing the radiator back in, just need to go get some oil and wire up the starter/alternator and turn the key. fingers crossed she starts! couldnt get her to start the last time i tried this (when the engine was in the cabby) but then again i was trying to use a full car loom and had it sitting all over the top of the engine, this time ive done everything right so heres hoping. also picked up a few more wee bits - proper door popper soleniods (and a roll of welding wire to smooth the handles out lol), some new brake hoses, got my slot loading DVD drive through, some new brake pads for the rear beam, wishbones, droplinks, track rod ends.. im pretty sure the car will fly through an MOT as im replacing anything ive taken off. once the engines running its full steam ahead on the bodywork and then i'll start the interior. plans are still pretty much as they started although im thinking about a smooth boot and lower cossie spoiler. Time plan;engine running in next few days.Bodywork complete by 10th may.interior complete by 21st may (when i got on 2 weeks holiday.. meh)then car mot'd and painted early June.RR'd/setup mid june ready for the rest of the shows! reid
well everythings plumbed in and wiring finished but the starter doesnt turn off the key. atm im thinking its because i havent got an ECU in (zetec) but im not entirely sure - anyone confirm/think of anything else?hopefully get her running 2moro if thats my problem! with the std radiator fitted i was having issues fittingmy cooler, so i think i'll be changing to the ERST rad my mates got kicking about to help that.got a few other wee bits and pieces done but nothing major. as soon as i can get her running i ca get the bodywork finished! reid
Starter does go via the ecuawesome, means im not chasing wires and trying to unravel 3 rolls of tape... any idea if there are any pre pats 1.8 mondeo ECU's (and codes)? cheers Stustu. some time has gone into this aint it mate, how much u think you have spent on it so far? Im going to have a project car within the next couple of months. 2.0l stripped escort running of throttle bodies aye ive spent a while on it now mate, by the end of it it'll be a fair bit more tho, still got loads to do now. stripping and fitting the engine and interior were the easy parts. i hate wiring with a passion, and ive never did alot of bodywork so as a whole the projects unexplored territory for me. Stu
You don't REALLY need the ecu reid.. just hook up a relay off your switched live to the starter inhibit line.. same for fuel pump (or use an rs turbo fuel pump relay).. Otherwise.. a BLOB ecu should do the trick... and it just so happens i've got one.

reid
Yes.. 1.8.. that's what you asked for BLIP is another.. i only asked for 1.8's as i know the 2.0 pre-pats ones, and any pre pats mondeo ECU will do i'd imagine.
