M44K TS
My brother had an SRI 130 or some balls. Was an ok car, not very exciting, average interior, basically anonymous ok daily runner, until one of the cylinders warped.
McRic
I've had the Sri 140 & Sri 150 and both served me well. Years ago I had a 1.6ls as a company car and it was as uncomfy as hell.
Craig855S
mate of mine bought a 1.8 low spec one...without checking it over. It turned out to be a complete dog, not sure if it suffered common faults or weather his was just very poorly looked after
robbie
i would assume its a case of if u look after it it will be ok
LiamGTR
It's not because it's "not a Ford"... i'm never a "Ford Man" and never will be, i really don't care who makes the car aslong as the car is good so that option is out of the question. Hmmmmm, i smell dirty Rat. Ive had my mondeo on Pissedonheads for a week or so and ive had 2 people offering me vectras as a swap. An 03 plate 1.8 with "genuine sri alloys" (ffs ) and a 55plate 2.2 sri................. They must be shite if everyones trying to get rid. I had a 1998 vectra. It was crap. Headgasket went twice and it gave me physical pain in my back when driving.Same mate, exactly the same car (1st person that offered me a swap) because he also mentioned about his "Genuine SRI alloys" in the title... apart from the engines the vectra is a good car i find them comfy and a good all rounderApart from the engine...you mean like the main point of a car ? Thanks for all your comments, didn't think I was going to anyway, but now definitely won't go ahead with any Vectra swaps
Lee R
wheres Lee R to tell us how great they are?? they are far from great, but they pi$$ over the Escort for VFM
GazSi
The car is not bad, its the engines, ecotecs, my dad had a tigra and it used more oil than fuel at 2 years old, camblet snaped twice headgasket went twice, 1.6 with under 30k and this happoned, put a c20let in and it should be fine
stevmo3691
ecotecs arent terrible. my mums astra has one, with over 80K and still going strong. just dont like rest of it how does a vectra pi$$ over escort for VFM. thirtier, parts cost more, less reliable, more faults and not to mention chyropractor bill vectra was the worst car i've owned. horrid, horrid hateful thing. my dad drove it and said his old cavalier 2.0 CDX was alot nicer to drive, more comfortable and reliable. Lee R
how does a vectra pi$$ over escort for VFM. I bought a SRi 140 for, iirc, £600. like for like, Vectra is better VFM. I certainly aint gonna bias just cos what the badge says
stevmo3691
i was only jokin bout the ford thing. i'd love a vauxhall monaro VXR. just really hated the vectra. and vectra is hardly comparable with an escort? different class of car market, and against the mondeo it loses. only area it won in (reason i bought one) was more rear leg and headroom. slightly

escort4x4
Ive owned a 1.8 vectra and as much as i love my escort and the ford badge i have found the vauxhall to be so much better, Only down side was handling, all vauxhalls are rubbish at handlingThrough the 5 years of owning it, the only fault i had was the rubbish oil breather design on them engines, other then that it pulled like a train, 78mph in 2nd gear, that was when i went thro a boy racer stage. Vectra Pees over the mondeo any day of the month People say that the vauxhall ecotec engine is not that reliable, i beg to differ, they are more reliable then fords, better performance, better fuel economy aswell. Ud prob thing im a big fan of the vauxhall badge lol. I like the vauxhall so much i also own a 2.2 53 plate elite vectra.Escort 1.6 + RS2000 4X4 for funVectra for comfort Edited February 19, 2010 by escort4x4
ScORTED
I bought a SRi 140 for, iirc, £600. like for like, Vectra is better VFM. I certainly aint gonna bias just cos what the badge says i once bought an RS2000 for £265... Vectra Pees over the mondeo any day of the month it really doesn't some of the mk2 or whatever they're called are pretty good, but not as good as the mk3 mondeoand despite the mk2 mondeos looks it was always a better car than the mk1 vectra
escort4x4
ur comparing old mark vectras to newer mondeos, as style evolves of course things will look bettermy personaly views are mk1 vectra vs mk1 mondeo = vectramk2 vectra vs mk2 mondeo = vectramk3 mondeo vs mk3 vectra = mondeo overall i think the vectra is a much better car, all in all i find the body work dont rust as severe as the fords and the engines are more reliable, lately im noticing and seeing much more mondeos which include the mk3 in the scrap yards, alot less compared to the vectras
