tezmanian devil
Yeh but With buying that kit everything is new and ready to be bolted straight on without any hassles, it is alot of money but well worth it imo! I want the zetec rocker cover retro ford do aswel but it's something £200-300 which I can't justify spending really but try do look smart!

Then it looks like you have a BDA (in keeping) yeh i think that is the one, does look good, but far too much money just for a rocker cover imo the ball ache will be worth it when i can say "i did that" correct me if im wrong but arn't the wings unique to a estate and van as the rear half of the car is basicaly mk1 can you still get them,? also ive got a zetec in my mk1 i fabricated all the parts to fit it wasn't to bad in the end yeh the wings are different, bit of a barstard really because if it was a mk1 front i could just use mk1 front wings but because its a mk2 front i needed to find the exact mk2 estate/van front wing's, but luckily escort-tec (mk1/2 escort breaking) have a decent pair there holding onto for me had they not had some i proberly would have changed to a mk1 front end, but then thats more dolla and agro...why not put a mk1 front end on it i have seen it done on a van before if i remember its the a pillar thats the issue i would like to but its alot more work and i think iv got more than enough to get on with atm lol i do love the mk1 front end! went and collected a few more bits from escort-tec the other day first up, a pair of wings http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/fadef3bc.jpg new tailgate http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/861b70ae.jpg and a new bonnet http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/456273e2.jpg the tailgate needs a little touching up in one spot and the wings need to be repaired slightly but a dam site better than what's fitted atm and the bonnets just has a couple of patchs of surface rust on the underside so just a rub down needed for that not sure wether to crack on an fit the new panels as and when i get them or hold out for the other bits to arrive, take it off the road and sort it all out in one go? and just fill all the bad bits for now and make it look as pressentable as i can for summer?? in between collecting parts and work i'v been slowly sorting through the wireing, this is the first time iv had a proper go at wireing so im taking my time and fingers crossed it'l all work first time lol this is the wireing to the instrument cluster http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/b2dfb5ff.jpg for some reason someone has cut every wire at some point and connected it all back up with bullet connectors :banghead: why they felt the need to do that i dont know?so i'v gone through each wire, removed the bullet connectors and soldered the wires together and heat shrinked them  http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/4229bb57.jpghttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/85ad9a93.jpg still have quite abit of wireing to sort through but im stuck with the heater blower switch atm, there 3 wires coming out the back of the switch, 1 brown (earth?) 1 brown+ red and 1 brown + white wire and i have a brown coming from the blower which i assume is earth again? and a brown and purple wire (i think, cant really remember now) so with the switch, is the brown/red wire power live to the switch and the other brown/white wire the switch live to the blower?if someone could point me in the right driection with this that would be awesome!!this is all that was there... http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/1d9de2d2.jpg if anyone has any wireing diagrams they could post up id be soo greatfull!! i was hoping to do abit more wireing after work today but it was dark by the time i got home so decided to have a bash at making a plate/bracket to hold the fuse box under the dash and came up with this... old glow worm boiler side casing lol http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/096b4ea4.jpg and what i ended up with... http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/835d19df.jpghttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m106/tezmanian_devil/mk2%20escort%20estate/11c8b0f6.jpg i still need to cut the middle out for the fuse box to sit into, paint it and mount it in the car but this is only temporary anyway, idealy id like to re-do it at some point in ally and make it look abit more fancy. hopfully get abit more done tomorrow weather and work permitting ofcourse. sidrick
My brother, an electrical engineer (10 years experience working on multi-multi-million pound projects), advised me to go for 'bullet connectors' rather than soldering on my upcoming engine conversion. I'll ask him why since I never bothered to question.
Ahmotorsport
Soldered joints are the strongest joint you can make, not sure why he said that, interested to find out though.
bronze4door
if that was my car i would be ripping all them wires out that arent needed and getting rid of that ally centre console if you replace the panels you have as you go along there is a good chance you will find all sorts of horrors under the front wings so it may be off the road longer than you wanted it to be but if you can weld or are willing to learn then thats what i would do and drive it round multi coloured
