Loving the project and the fact it's something different.

Never understood the fascination with these cars though when you can pick up a BMW E30 for a fraction of the price.

It's a Ford thing :pancake:

I figured that but just can't get my head around the $$$ involved in these things.

it does hurt the wallet playing with cars but the way i see it is, if i didnt play with car's i'd be down the pub wasting my money and not having anything to show for it other than a sore head...

Couldn't agree more, i'm forever being told that my motor is a waste of money, by my older brothers mainly, but he spends most of his time getting drunk in town, i know what i'd rather do!

My first car was a Mk 2 1300 GL (Apart from 3 days with a Datsun 120y that we won't mention), I later had 2 E30's a 316 and later a nearly new 320i, loved them all but I would dearly love to have another MK2 and do all the things I dreamed of doing when I was young and Skint :-)

I think the Mk 2 is so popular because they were the first car a lot of my generation owned along with Mini's and Fiestas, that and because it is a pretty simple machine to work with and most jobs can be tackled by a home mechanic.

Mine was a V Reg when I got it around 1987 (Old for a Mk II) It was 600 pounds which was about the going rate and it swallowed up huge chunks of my wages just keeping it going.

Compare that to the sort of car you can get for 600 quid today!

only problem is everyone is an expert with i had one of those and is it a mexico when clearly they dont know what they are talking about

Looking great, this is my favorite thread on here at the moment :-)

I can´t remember from earlier in the thread but is that a 1.8 Zetec? How exactly do you go about mounting it in the Escort? D you have to fab up new mounts or is there a kit?

Cheers.

No doubt there is a kit now.

Yeh retro ford do pretty much everything for a zetec conversion, but it's all quite pricey so il have to do a little saving befour much happens in the way of the engine being fitted.. So I'm affraid this won't be a quick job, just be a case of buying what I can when I can because I'm also trying to buy tools for work so money for the car is abit tight atm, proberly looking at this time next year befour the engine does go in :(
