Recommended Posts

On the eve of Ford Fair ,it is time to unveil what will DEFFO be on the road next year, although the roof colour will change again........probably!!

As soon as the wheels went on I was smitten again.

Thanks all you guys who have white wheels on their rides for making me decide on these bargain buys after getting ripped off on Ebay(thanks for feck all

Ford Spares).Local Gumtree purchase £130 with all good legal tyres.(after giving my mate £20 to collect them)

Looking good Andy!

You should bring it tomorrow, I have a spare stand pass that has your name on it ;)

needs slamming on the back! also need to sort a tail pipe out, even if it's just a trim as that standard one looks crap!

Fair one Supersport.

Exhaust is the next thing to look at changing.

Arches would have to be worked on to slam it,so I am going to leave the ride height to prolong my spine!! :thumb:

Frustration is not the word!!

As I write this post ,I have been off work since June 23rd 2014,with a large dose of depression and social anxiety.

I couldn't enjoy this years Ford Fair as much as last year although it was nice to see a few of you guys again.

With this in mind,I have had little or no interest in doing anything to the van.

Private therapy is costing me £500+ which again would be enough to Mot, tax and insure the van.

Maybe its time just to flog her and then concentrate on getting myself back to 100% fitness without the worry of getting it finished......

or will I regret it.?

Could be one for you to answer PeeWee if you have time please,as progress is being made in the Thrive by Rob Kelly department.

Regards Andy

bit of advice from someone who now suffers with regular bouts of illness and near crippling sessions of general anxiety, Ive found the best way of dealing with near enough all the symptoms is to keep your noggin occupied, if your van project offers that then no dont bin it off.

if however it only serves as a source of concern then yes give it the boot and have one less worry to feed your anxiety.

but!

find yourself something else to fill in the gap it leaves or your head will just go looking for something else to fret about.

Cheers Shaw.

Last bout I had with it was when I did the boring job of rubbing down the 280zx which helped me through.

Felt different this time.A lot darker picture.

On a positive note,I do think there is light at the end of the tunnel if I can be taught to change my thinking style.

At the end of the day I don't suppose its doing any harm sitting in a warm ,dry garage for the forthcoming winter.

It just frustrates the feck out of me that when you think you are close to a result, something else kicks you in the

Balls.

Thanks again Shaw.

Stay strong,

regards Andy

Sorry to hear about your struggles mate and i hope you feel better soon. I went through a cognitive behavioral therapy program about a year ago so dont think it doesnt happen to anyone else bud

i think if you have somewhere to keep it without it being a problem then keep it for the time being. Having an ongoing project is never a bad thing :)

From memory shaw.....havnt you tried about five times to get rid of your escort?

Its hard to explain to someone who's never suffered anxiety attacks just how horrendous they are and just why they lead to depression so easily.

my own dad (typical yorkshire born and bred ignorant tool) said "dont be such a feckin nancy and get your 4rse in gear"

my response was simply

"find the moment in your memories were you felt the most gut renching terror in your life dad....then take that and times it by ten....then realise that there's feckall you can do to stop it happening because there's no reason you can find for it so you cant even fight it by fixing the reason, after that THEN call me a nancy"

"......oh and the next time you want to share your wisdom, just feckin dont"

moral of that story is that in your situation much like my own no one can truly understand how you feel and whats bouncing about your bonce, so that means its really all up to you to find what direction you wanna go in and just go for it at you own pace. good luck to ya fella.

aye I have, it was usually something I decided during/after suffering a particularly strong bunch of anxiety attacks but once I got myself calmed down and regained some degree of logical reasoning Id be able to think it through more level headed and come to a more thought through decision.

coincidently I no longer own the escort, BUT I couldnt bare the waste of scrapping her and there's just not much call for escorts in my area so I gave her to my little brother who'd ogled her since I finished modding with the only stipulation being that she be back on the road within the new year :thumb:

Cheers Scottybo,

As I say,if I can suck this change of thinking style( which i have had from a kid apparently)into a positive, then yes,it won't be a problem and the old girl will become road legal next year with a bit more tinkering.

We  also had to say goodbye to our choccy lab after 14 years in August and now have a fox red lab pup who is gonna be feckin huge, so gonna consider ripping out the 'questionable' interior and shoving the dog crate in that cos the Focus will be a bit tight for Jasper...........

and Shaw, that analogy of what you describe is spot on mate!! Feckin memories!!!

It would be so much easier to hobble around in plaster on crutches,as people could visibly see your problem, and that is what only adds to my social anxiety and makes me feel like a fraud.

Thanks for the support and likewise stay strong mate.

Sincerest regards

Andy

To top it all off ,the wife had a fiesta go into the back of her on her way to work this morning.

Whiplash and her mate damaged her shoulder with the seatbelt.

Was able to drive the car back but something must be bent or fecked underneath cos it didn't feel right when I bought them back from A  and E.

Apparently he was still doing around 40 when he hit her!

Still she is ok apart from the pain in the neck but hey.........she married me !!!

Relieved regards Andy
