times have moved on. It's as simple as that. This was the best club / forum I was ever involved in, but it's as good as gone now. I pop in every few days to see what's what, and have scanned the thread titles in 10 seconds...

There was once a time I came home after work to find 5 pages of Active Topics!!!!!!

Car shows often had 30+ cars on the stand.

We'd have a social meet up every few months that ALOT of people attended, and travelled a long way too.

Some of the best years of my time

I think its more the car market really.

for example, a few years back it was easiest for a young/new driver to simply buy a escort (a car renown for its modifying pedigree aswell as a handlful of others) and not see his pocket money or daddies cash vanish in insurance cost smoke while still having a good looking motor with established credibility and a huge modification market to choose from.

but you look at recent years its become alot more simpler, faster and even in some short term cases cheaper to grab a brand spanking new HP motor which comes with 1yrs free insurance, of course most young impressionable sheep wont take into account that the insurance cost after a year takes a humongous sky jump naturally.......... ooooooooo look at the shiny shiny!

10 years ago you could buy an Escort that wasn't even 5 years old and you'd be happy to be seen in it. I couldn't rock up to work in a mk6 Escort now, no way.

10 (or slightly more) years ago they were also reasonably comfortable, nice enough to drive and cheap enough to maintain.

The mk6 Escort, basically, wasn't a good enough car to stand the test of time. There are far, far worse, of course, but if you had £600 quid in your pocket you could get a newer, nicer, better and lest rusty motor to potter about in. This comes from (obviously) a big fan of the car.

Ironically I feel the club has suffered as a result of not evolving. It has remained a jack of all trades and master of none.....

As well as a more 'grown-up' refresh of the forum interface (hasn't this been due for about 5 years?) I feel the place would benefit from trying to appeal to a wider range of Escort owners and having a section dedicated to performance.

Allowing sub-forum sponsorship where people/companies can offer discount or the like in exchange for advertising and posting their build threads would also encourage people to join and post.

Properly organised meets and regional events seem to be a thing of the past as well :\

There are hundreds of former active members who still check on this place, like Lee, but don't see anything to prompt them to post. I don't think EscortEVOlution is beyond help if things are done to address the slump, but if it just bumbles along like it is then it'll vanish with a whimper.

All IMO, of course.

i drive an escort to work sid.... :(

Well I think it should be a team effort to try and get people to become members and ask the moderators to organise meets ect.

then there will be more people posting ect.

something needs to give.

so I think its down to the people concerned to help and get more people interested again!!!

Then perhaps the moderators can do something to help.

I started this thread to try and get people's comments, it sounds like its working.

Put your views across and may be together, we can make a change!!!!!!!!
