Hezz
Most forums don't have such a fast turn over of new posts so I think how it is, is quite normal. The problem is that most users on here know that it has been very popular and had lots of posts more and more escorts are going to the scrapyards especially with heavy right foot involved soon it will leave only die hard enthusiasts
RobMk6
Well its been 10 years since I joined, only got rid of my last escort this time least year! Loved my old GTi A member from here bought it to turn into a fast road/track car. But times change, people move on, and with the price that escorts can be had for now, they are indeed a throw away car. If I had to have a 'winter car' so as to keep whatever I had off the road, I'd buy another, but ONLY because I know them - no other reason. stuey650
... I think opening the site up to different mk escorts, could be a good idea as long as they become a full member or we could end up with alot of different threads opening up!... http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/ "THE Car club for Ford EscortsThe real Ford Escort Owners Club" I totally agree that a good move might be for the site to now cater for all mk's of escort, and cater for what people are actually into these days. (ie the desirable models) The main website makes numerous references to the fact the site covers for mk5/6 escorts so I disagree this has already been done and that this site caters for all. If someone has just bought a mk1 escort I very much doubt they will hang around other bother to hang sign up if they did stumble on the site as there's nothing to suggest thi site caters for their cars. There's nothing about anything other than mk5/6's on the main site, even the "identify you escort section" only covers the 2 styles. If you want to attract more new members the site needs to be coming up on search results for phrases people actually search on, like RS Turbo, Mk1 RS2000, Mexico and the likes and that could be achieved by updating the main page. I doubt we get many hits or new members from people searching mk5 1.4 Escort LX... There could also be sections created in the form for each style of escort, maybe sub categorise the "Show your car" into mk1's & 2's then another section Mk3/4's then Mk5/6's then a final seciton for all non-escort threads. That would at least the site is serious about catering for all mk's and might encourage people to sign up and stay.

Andyb0127
Its the same with some of the other forums im on, they have gone quiet and seem to have less topics and posts.I still look on here but never really sign in that much anymore. Even tho I still have my mk6 i would never would consider selling/scrapping it, and would do what ever it takes to keep it on the road. Granted its probably easier for me as im work in a bodyshop. Granted it will never have the heritage of mk1 or mk2 escort, but way I see it is its one of the last escorts to be made and is worth looking after. As for the club perhaps it may be better to cater for mk1 to mk6 escorts as already said, as im looking for a mk2 escort to restore, so would be happy to post pics of the restoration on here through the stages. Andy 3i
I do somewhat agree with most of the posts...escorts are dying out rapidly. The amount being scrapped is becoming ever increasing. There are some enthusiasts though...but they are on different forums. I personally would be up for a meet if Evo arranged one, a large one where all the staff could pop down...get some names to faces etc. On the subject of actually owning one... Mine has spent more time sat sorned than on the road I enjoy driving it but it's just too fragile for daily use. I've got a 94 golf diesel estate and the build quality is superior if I'm honest. I wouldn't buy another but I'd hate to part with the one I have...maybe it's first car attachment, who knows
Dubs
in fairness there was a time when mk1 and 2 escorts were considered cheap throw away cars, and look whats happened to those. i'm not suggesting that the mk5/6 will achieve the same status as those cars have but its all relative. mk5/6 escort prices have bottomed out and they aren't that popular atm but in time i think they will become desirable cars again
