silvershaddow
So does a 2.0 run on a 1.6 ECM or do you need a 2.0 map?
Ex-Finesse
I know from when the 2.0 engine went in the black one that it runs ok on the 1.6 ecu and MAF, although idle is fast for a while as so much more air is flowing through the MAF than normal for those revs, due to the bigger capacity. silvershaddow
Yeah sounds about right, was just wondering about a 2.0 conversion myself in a few years. Anyone ever bother using TuneBoy type kit that lets you remap your ECU without changing it by just plugging in a secondary loom?
Ex-Finesse
Sounds like an alternative.... but why would you want to replace a standard ford unit with a home brewed effort? EEC-IV and EEC-V are incredibly advanced ecus
silvershaddow
Was just wondering how you remapped a standard ECU. On the Daytona we have to either change the ECU or stick an overlay box over the top to change the values by a set amount. The latters pretty crap but lets you use the standard bike ECU which is cheaper. We've got a datalogger dash which helps too, lets you monitor the lamba and a variety of sensors after a run. What kinda stuff can you change in a standard ECU? Have never really thought about modifying to this level so forgive me if they're stupid questions!! :-)
Craig855S
whats all this fisting malarky about???? and what is the correct way to remove driveshafts,as im doin it on sunday, what does the gearbox end of a removed d/shaft look like????? is it 3 splines?? or do u need to take that spinny bit off too? Ex-Finesse
Fisting - we dunno how it started, but it has and that's that! The way we've done the driveshafts is to drop the ball joint from the bottom of the suspension carrier, undo the nut tightening around the bottom of the shock and free the suspension carrier from the bottom of the shock. You may also want to remove the brake pipe, clamping it first. This allows the whole driveshaft / suspension carrier / hub / brake setup to be removed as one! Driveshafts, you ideally want a crowbar. If not, 2 large flat head screwdrivers teased into the gap will see them out. Have one person holding the hub / brake end
