mikelskas
While were on the topic. If an old lady bought a standard Escort, yet the previous owner had put skirts, induction kit. Imagine she insured it as a standard escort. Would her insurance be valid if she was to make a claim. My point is, maybe the old lady doesnt know that these things have been added to the car. What if she belived them to be standard on this car. What would happen then? Would the insurers really turn around and say, sorry you should have researched the car and learned what was standard and what wasnt?

mac456
my question is, lets say i have a crash and it is my fault, i wouldnt claim anyway as it wudnt be worth it because of the excess and loss of no claims, wud the insurer still pay out to the other party, if mods like this wasnt declared?? Craig855S
personally i dont declare FORD PARTS. White dials, dont declare, theyre covered in ford stamps so even a suspicious insurance investigator will find they are OEM parts (perhaps an option on all MK6s anyway) I also wouldnt declare an Si/GTi bumper on a encore/CL etc as it still "looks" standard, even tho we know encores never came with the fog bumper i wouldnt declare a 2.0TB on a 1.8i wouldnt declare GTI wheels on a non GTIi may declare 16" mondie Si wheels,or i may not,it depends, cos u cud bluff that u thort ford put them on with a GTI bodykit i'd declare it as the factory fitted sports body kit

Some insurance companies could say that the modifications to the car make it more likely that its stolen or the fact that the wheels are bigger it could alter the cars perfomance
ANT
anyone ever known anyone not to be paid out for having obvious modifications? i'm sure most companies, if mods are undeclared will just pay the book price of the vehicle. i declared wheels and skirts on my old escort and it went up 30%. i failed to tell them i had exhaust, sound sysetm, suspension, si interior,.. etc etc i've never declared again.although my car is 99% standard now so i have no worries. pmsl @ dials! Never get why anyone would declare 1 thing, but not something else all or nothing
