JC's Escort

Wanted one of the last escorts made and wanted a mint one with low miles, after 3 months of looking i found this one. When i first saw it was a little worried that had been a wasted trip to the ford dealer in Didicot as it looked like this:

But after a good look over it... every square inch the only things i could find wrong were a scuff to the rear bumper and the door trim. After the test drive i wanted it. Going from a 90k miled encore to that was impressive! I'd driven my Bro's GTi and i reckon this was better, everything seemed newer and tighter, as had only 32k miles on clock.

so week later it was back at my house:

They did a really good job of preparing it. Was MOT'd serviced and taxed and a proper ford warrenty

Added a few thing across form my last escort:

Had a few things added to my little car, Not the best pics as were off my phone

after:

also had a GTi Steering wheel added, as don't like the 4 spoke standard. Though totally forgot about swapping the clock to a white one! Its nice having a digital speedo!

why didnt you swap the digital module? you could have kept the right mileage then

Didn't know you could? how would one do that?

Probably by opening the unit(remove the front), removing the rev counter then the temp/petrol gauges, the speedo section should now come away from the back casing.

use a screw driver to remove the digital section, you might need to swap other bits..... :thumb:

 for the comments guys

Seems impossible to swap the parts over from inside the unit. Not really fussed about the mileage change as have had it recorded by the garage, so the only problem would be when i came to sell it, but as it wouldn't be worth much anyway when i do not really a problem!

Liked the idea of having white dials, as they look sweet, but GTi dials aren't digital and didn't want to loose the digitial dials, seemed silly paying for lockwood fascias so had a set out of dials from a puma and swapped them. They are a straight swap ,a puma has the same ones as the late MK 6 escort!

Looks good mate :thumb:

Were the black digi dials the standard dials ?

Yeah the black digi dials were standard on an escort from v to y reg finesse, they stopped doing the white dials, hence new ones came out a puma but still work on an escort

what do wud u need to convert to a digi dash from standard?

o'h and they look awsome m8, very nice indeed. Car also looks well m8.

cheers :thumb:

There was a topic on about how to add digital dials, cant seem to find it, though do remember that they aren't a straight swap, the wiring loom behind need modifying.

Car be looking better next week i hope, with a nice grille!
