shawdreamer
Quite a nice urm, explanation there I thought about getting one of them boxes that you have and modifying it to take a single feed. Take nothin to do, just bend the 6.5mm blades over 90degrees at the same point all the way along and solder a single strip of metal right along the length of the connections. Question is....... why? The feed cable you see there comes with the box as a kit, it merely needs the separate ends trimmed and points crimped as required to suit the user, its rated to flow ampere way beyond whatever you could possibly receive from a engine run power supply and even then it has a very discreet in-line 30amp fuse that would blow before the box would. and tbh...... that was the smallest compact box of its quality I could locate on eGay that was small enough to fit were I wanted it. As said anything bigger would have seen it located to the rear compartment area or at a very extreme push sacrificing the glove box which at the end of the day are both impractical imo
RobMk6
Thats what I was asking in previous post, the supply wire splits into all the separate supplies.
RobMk6
Going back to this, do your auxiliary items work with the ignition off then? as i'm thinking of having mine on a relay so it can be controlled via the ignition, having the relay switched via the radio live. Will then also have things like my amp fed from it, but on a separate switch so it dont' need to be on all the time.

RobMk6
I was gonna make a drawing but cant be bothered, but you've gone: BATTERY>>>LIVE FEED>>>> SPLIT INTO INDIVIDUAL FEEDS/AUX FB>>>>>>>> LIVE FEEDS>>>>>>>> RELAYS>>>>>WINDOWS/SR/MIRRORS ETC. What I want to do is: BATTERY>>FUSE>> LIVE FEED>>>SWITCHED RELAY>>>AUX FB>>>LIVE FEEDS>>>GAUGES/AMP/AUX LIGHTS/ANY OTHER AUX EQUIPMENT. You can only just see it in this pic but behind where the HU lives theres a steel panel with holes in it, I'm gonna mount the relay(s) in there out of the way.Hopefully will only need the one, unless I install anything that requires a constant feed.I may even supply the stereo from it as I'll be using the stereo feed to switch the relay. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v18/robmk6/My%20Cars/Black%20Mk6%20GTi%203%20Door/DSC01644.jpg Oh and ignore the dodgy wiring, its just temp until the aux FB goes in. No feckin chance! look at all those tragic lego block connectors ya bone idle tw4t oh and I spy a McGill Plasma gauge there.... I love em (as visible by sig), your should bin off the analogue needle volt gauge tho for the plasma one too, so much nicer to look at.....plus they do the funky little dance on start up and it looks good in a row . RobMk6
Orite Mr " I cant figure out what wire to use" I'm not gonna waste connectors by using them for a week The other gauges will be swapped before long but their just to fill holes atm, but yes it is a McGill one cos you told me to get the bloody thing lmao

RobMk6
Nah I needed to use the blocks as I've connected various things together that will need to separated and to go their own way when the final installation happens and wouldn't be able to take anything off the ends of the wires, thus making them shorter. Plus I'd never fit about 6 different wires into one bullet connector.
shawdreamer
So.... sunny day, recent rain showers during the night, humidity feels good and general temperature isn't to far off.... As close to perfect conditions for doing some spraying baring having a sealed self contained atmospheric spray booth that is! anyhow, went to work on a couple of items I recently purchased, namely these... http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26543.jpghttp://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26544.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26545.jpghttp://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26546.jpg as you can see there not exactly in prime condition (and that only whats obviously visible) but most will know I have a bit of a habit of jumping into what others would call "lost causes"... it keeps me entertained I guess. I'm not exactly sure what the previous owners of these wings were thinking when they attempted to spray them but I must say..... Ive rarely came across worse jobs , lumps and runs all over the shop, paint in general would have looked patchy at best, oh well its not like I wanted them white anyway. I got to work flattening it all back as appose to repairing the obvious damage first, mainly because I suspected the existing paint likely hid further faults and the obvious stuff was severe enough as to warrant a fair bit of effort to repair anyway. after Id flattened out and repaired the main surfaces I gave them a good coat of primer and got down to repairing the larger stuff (such as the heavy damage to the lower edges and wheel arch lip) http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26547.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26548.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26549.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26550.jpg obviously this wasn't all done today, most of the prep-work didn't rely on good weather so was done indoor or during less favourable weather days. Today was mostly spent with final flatting and prep before the base colour went on, that colour being a two stage Ash Black acrylic based paint that I like to use, after which they looked like this.... http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26551.jpg http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26553.jpgnotable dull finish is part and parcel of the two stage paint approach..... really your just looking for a solid flat colour coat at this point..... the satisfying bit is when you get to about the 3rd clear lacquer point when the finish takes on its reflective appearance, even tho its not a mirror finish at this point (that requires the use of some cutting compound later) you get a good idea of whether you'll get what your after when donehttp://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26554.jpghttp://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26555.jpg ....I think I should be ok:pancake: well least that's what I thought!... right up to the point were I was sipping my coffee and I hear a stomach wrenching clattering noise from outside, I go out in the desperate hope that what I heard wasn't what I thought it was, unfortunately my initial suspicion was correct.... Yep, one of my wonderful pet cats had decided the warmth of a freshly lacquered cosworth front wing was just to much to resist and jumped up onto the platform I was using to dry the wings and investigate this new arrival.....he investigated a tad to intensively and promptly pushed the still delicate wing off the platform and onto the rather unforgiving surface of my front path....http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26556.jpghttp://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26557.jpghttp://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26558.jpghttp://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26559.jpg ....guess these were even more work than even I foresaw..... oh well, guess Im starting from scratch with that one Edited March 13, 2011 by shawdreamer

PeeWee
Harsh. I remember doing my red st24 then carefully placing it outside while I did the front bumper in my shed.Gust of wind got under the nice big bumper and flipped it over onto the hard pavement giving me the pleasure of starting over again. I actually didnt mean you, I was pretty sure you hadnt gone as far as spraying or having them sprayed before I bought them off you, iirc they were GayLees wernt they? what happened with your matt black paint job plans? One minute Im keen the next im back to pondering.....its one of these things Ill likely give long careful thought over, then just go ahead and do it anyway My compressors already been cleaned and made ready and is standing by waiting to go alongside the big 5L tin of Army isssue matt black in the shed. Truth be told most of the time the prospect of running about sorting a unit to spray in (as something this large I wont be able to do it outside with unpredictable weather) for something Im not 100% set on yet just seems to much trouble, however when summer begins to set and I start getting long solid warm spells It'll probably prompt me to dig out the marque tent and use it as a makeshift booth
