bronze4door
bloody hell two years since this was last updated, well not much really happened it was run around for a while in all its damaged glory and still used on track the last outing was in december 2013 where i blew the head gasket on it, the water was coming out of the exhuast as steam, the gearbox gave up not long after and was replaced with a spare i had but it was still crunching in 2nd and the reverse light switch was wrong so the car had no reverse lights add the fact the repairs that were done on the rear chasses les before i bought the car were starting to come off it was decided not put it though its MOT that was due the end of january 13 before its last track outing a disc brake rear axle was fitted which was fully polybushed and painted to make it look nice in between messing with other cars i stripped the escort down ready to get a few things sorted onit http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/2013-07-15150553.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/2013-07-15150613.jpg and these arrived http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/2013-07-15150702.jpg also while looking through ebay i found these fairly local and after a a price i couldn't refuse they were trial fitted in my car while it was being stripped http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/2013-07-15112809.jpg one dead engine removed from its hole http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/2013-07-16160721.jpg more stripping http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/2013-07-18141247.jpg you can see where i have been touching up the front panel ready for a fresh coat of black paint http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/2013-07-26185226.jpg the front panel was painted and this is how it sat for a while whist waiting for a spot at the welders, when i could afford to have the car done he didn't have a space for my car and when i couldn't afford it done he could of done the work, the begining of january this year and the time was right to get the car in so i had to remove the fuel tank and loosen all the rear end off for ease of removal at the welders, you can see the rear axle in this pic http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/2014-01-16155037.jpg all stripped ready to go http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/2014-01-19133726.jpg

bronze4door
so who is ready for an update.... ....here it is the first job was to clean the interior at which point i found a couple of pathches of rot in the front floor pans which was not ideal, the carpet was removed to asses the damage properly and the old si needed two small patches in the passenger side and two small patches welding on the drivers side, the rot was where the floorpan meets the chasses and was sealed from ford and it had rotted behind the sealant the rot was cut out a patch cut to shape let in and sealed up http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/IMG_20140303_153652771.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/IMG_20140303_153700504.jpg after this it was painted with black hmmerite inside and undersealed underneath the carpet was vacuumed and the seats and interior parts were cleaned http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/IMG_20140305_145906826.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/IMG_20140305_171950586.jpg i sold my recaros as i think the si seats are more comfortable next off it went to the bodyshop for the paintwork and came back like this http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/IMG_20140326_145110477_HDR.jpg after a quick wash and the fresh paintwork rear quarter panel, ignore the door its battered and i have another one to go on so not worried about the overspray and that was explained to the painter, if it needs blowing in once on it will go back to get done, the overspray on the rear window is from when it wsa at the welders but that should clean off too. http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/IMG_20140328_153119808_HDR.jpghttp://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/IMG_20140328_160315177_HDR.jpg front wing, the front cross member/panel is next to get painted when i get a chance to, i will rub it down and paint it black http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/IMG_20140328_153104373.jpg and my new front bumper painted up http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/IMG_20140328_153146812.jpg at the moment i am in the process of swapping all the bits from the 1.8 onto the new 2.0l and the block has also had a fresh lick of paint and i will update this as and when i get things done but hopefully the car will be back on the road in may as my focus runs out of MOT then
