Craig855S
So it'll be on the road any day now yes?
sidrick
I rebooked it on Friday. The 23rd of this month was the next available slot, so it's in for then. I might see if I can have it in to my work before then though. I'm definitely selling it once it's MOT'd though. There's been too much blood, sweat, stress and money wasted on it to enjoy driving it. I've been looking at 318is's with better bodywork, E36 325i's and am tempted by knightrider's 320i E30, but it'll be a massive mission to get it up here. Lee_2f2f
How long did it take you to get that bolt off in the end Sid? Good luck again with the MOT fella, hopefully nothing comes up and puts the MOT on hold again. Shame you are going to sell it after this hard work. escortjas
I'll be honest, after all that work, its does seem a bit daft to sell it. I thought there would be more enjoyment to be had rolling round in something you've put a lot of time, effort and cash into.
sidrick
2f2f, 2 days trying, then 5 minutes with the bolt extractor! escortjas, I just feel that I've spent so much fixing the shitter that I won't enjoy driving it. I don't know if I'd have the patience to sort anything else that went wrong once it was on the road.
danposs86
At least drive it and see if you feel the same way.
Lee R
i'm with Sid. I'd say "after all that work" it'd be daft not to profit from it.
Craig855S
Well he's not gonna profit from it is he? He's spent so much on it. Sid I say drive it and see. You may sell it to buy another only to find it's a shitter also. At least you know this one has brand new parts here and there. What have you spent on it including buying it and what do you value it at now? (with the MOT)

I'd be looking for £850 on standard wheels with a years ticket.
Lee_2f2f
2f2f, 2 days trying, then 5 minutes with the bolt extractor! Brilliant. Worth owning one then? --------- I am with everyone else Sid, why not just drive it first mate and see how you feel?
sidrick
We'll see. Already gauging interest in the wheels.
sidrick
This stud used to be a bolt, but the head snapped off during an apparently easy unscrewing.... http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/SDC10156.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/SDC10155.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/SDC10154.jpg Mole grips wont clamp it. Heat and penetrating oil haven't helped. It's too small for the stud extractor and my screw extractor. You cant get a drill in there without seperating the hub and replacing the bearing, which isn't a DIY driveway job. Suggestions.
ScORTED
hacksaw a slot in it and undo it reverse thread it and put a bolt on to undo it bend it over and undo it saw it off then drill it out and retap the hole replace hub
sidrick
Well, I snapped the bold off and drilled it out. Moving the car up and down the drive would suggest that the ABS light has been sorted with that new sensor, so that's a boost. What is not a boost is that my wheels are clearly from a 5 series, and moving the car the length of the driveway resulted in a lot of scraping from the back, so they've been swapped for the originals and will be sold. Is there any 5 series forum members here that can advertise them for me? Photos from today: Reckon I ecountered some rust??http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/SDC10157.jpg As it stood with the tractor wheels and one fog light (sigh):http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/SDC10158.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/SDC10162.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/SDC10160.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/SDC10161.jpg I like the look, but if it's a daily driver, then it's pointless having mahoosive wheels. Back on the originals and ready for the MOT: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/SDC10163.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/adolftitler/SDC10164.jpg
massivewangers
Looks much better on the original wheels I think. The others just look odd due to the spacing. Do like the E36, always been tempted to have a go in one, see how they drive
