Moved on!

I expected this, all very welcome :)

However, the golf had 143,000 miles on it.

Needed a service (not that big a deal).

Needed new timing belt too.

Turbo was on the way out, seals about to burst.

Positive camber issue on the front left, causing rapid uneven tyre wear. (possibly bent subframe, hub)

Bodywork in a state, tax due in a month.

^^ Adds up to costing a lot to keep a 12 year old car on the road.

Fancied a quick corsa, almost got the diesel but they were a bit too expensive.

People are still very allowed to call me a T*at and say I shouldn't have done it, but I like the corsa. For now.

Not bad looking car. engine in thems not bad either. same as in my mums s reg astra 1.8 cdx and even with the auto box its quick so i'd imagine its quite fun. only thing i dont like about these corsas especially in SXI/SRI trim is the ride and the seats. my driving instructor had an 02 reg sxi 1.7 DT and found the seat and ride unpleasent on my 2 hour lessons. ok for the hour ones. but then i'm a bit different to most people. my backs so messed up i'm having to take the seatts out of my ST and swap them for ghia ones :(

hope you enjoy it and it proves as reliable as my mums astra which in the 5 years we've owned it has only ever needed service items, new rear shocks and springs, exhaust etc and the battery died on the alarm modulee in the wing so alarm kept going off.

other than that you get it, it starts, it moves, steers and stops which is what most people want from a car :thumb:

i'm only off vauxhalls becauuse of the vectra I had, but as i say, astra is brill

Oh dear,

I hope the wing mirrors are coming off too.

would you believe it john they usually came standard on most corsa c's!!

Most??? I imagine they're standard on SRI/SXI type models upwards maybe?

Just to make it clear - this corsa is completely standard.

The only things changed are some stupid sticker on the filler cap and the extra SRi badge on the bootlid.

Is the sticker an irmscher item? or just haslfords crap? Not that it makes a diff

well hence why i said most corsa c's lol but yeah i think it was the "sportier" models that came with m3 style mirrors as standard, no idea what vauxhall were thinking lol

It's SRi's that came with the M3 mirrors.

I like em but that's purely because they are standard.

Craig the sticker is an immersher item, but I don't care. It's going.

Some more, taken today:

Looks like a clean tidy motor. A couple of guys at work have got these. A 04 plate facelift 1.8 and a 52 plate pre-facelift 1.8. They're a quick car! The mirrors are standard items on just the Sri's, they're made by Hagus and cost a fortune! If I'm right yours is in Ultra blue which are quite rare and sought after in the 1.8's!

Are they? Nice.

Haven't seen any other Ultra Blue SRi's yet, only normal Corsas.

Cant argue with the numbers.

In my experience VX have always made great engines but shite 'driving' cars.

Even the new astras, insignia and vectra models are/were terrible drivers cars - and they've had enough time to get them right!

That said, a corsa is small which should equal light, nimble, quick... I bet its a very good car.

A mate used to have a GSI in the old, old shape and aside from the shite interior it was a great little car.

That is lovely!! my apprentis has the 1.2 SXI with SRi alloys, and it is nice to drive, bet that thing is fast!

good choice mate

Saw your reply and that "aw balls, I'm definately in trouble from the previous golf owner!"

Glad you approve mate

Yeh it's very chuckable which is fun. Only downside is that because it's small and light, doesn't feel very safe at all. If a golf hit me the thing would be ruined.

least i aint the only one thats moved onto a vauxhall lol. looks good got to be a flyer with the 1.8.

Yeh it's pretty quick, yours would fly straight past me with the 2.0T though!
