redmex
OK here we go for some cheesy comments ... History lesson first... MEXICO is officially an RS!.. If you are not old enough to remember or know this... ask your DAD Agreed the mk6 is a crappy 1.6LX trimmed up LMAO So Seeing I plan to go the full hog skirting it, coloured bumpers bla bla bla etc, I thought I would try a cheeky bit of badging to make it mega-super fekkin fast:-P And one day fit the 2 litre too http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/30886.jpg
SLEEMAN
well i have to agree with you! what were ford thinking of when they badged that a mexico! i mean surely they should have looked back and thought maybe they should have put an uprated engine in the mexico and added the rs/gti kit with a twist. but ford being ford being cheap on everything they produce! redmex
well i have to agree with you! what were ford thinking of when they badged that a mexico! i mean surely they should have looked back and thought maybe they should have put an uprated engine in the mexico and added the rs/gti kit with a twist. but ford being ford being cheap on everything they produce! I totally agree.. It was an insult to its predecessors.. I suppose they thought "Mexico" 1600cc?.. But such a low spec, what were they thinking of???? A 2 litre Zetec would be perfect because.. A .. it is easy and therefore cheap to do on the production line B.. It would have a respectable performance fitting between the GTI, but below the RS2000.. So keeping the RS models the sportier versions.. Personally I would had taken the GTI body kit styling, put a 2Litre Zetec in it, knocked the trim down a shade as the RS used to have a more base trim level "unless Customer choose custom Pack".. So seats I would had GTI but trimmed in cloth not leather.. BTW the original Mexico never had a vanity mirror and neither did this one.. Tight gits! LOL So basicly im building this Mex something near what I feel ford should had done with it.. I wonder if my Mk1 Mex is still alive from 20 years ago.. ARU 520K Im old before my time.. Ive always loved Fast Fords.. Ive had to name a few;-Mk1 Capri 3000E - Lotus Cortina - Cortina Savage "Look it up" - MK1 Mexico- mk2 RS2000 - 3x 2.8i Capri's - 3 litre Capri - Escort 1300E - Mk1 Cortina 15GT "2door" - 100E V8 - XR2 bla bla bla... Cant get enough of them, those were the days when cars and fuel were cheap Sparkie Edited April 15, 2013 by redmex
