The first carbon fibre roof skin came out of the mould today!

Mike if it's tiger sealed on then what give the rigity to the top of the car? As I believe the roof plays a large part in that or does the new fancy cage kind of take over for that purpose?

 

I'm going to take a guess the cage 'holds the car together'. Same with Lukes Fiesta.

The roof skin provides absolutely no rigidity whatsoever. It's just that, a skin. It's no different to a wing or any other cosmetic panel. My car is sitting now without the roof on, and (even speaking prior to the cage) it's 100% as stiff as it was before.

 

As for a vent, I'm looking into the driftworks carbon vent, cutting in an opening aperture shouldn't be a problem.
