ZS spoiler arrived at last! naughty fekyo didnt ship it till the 27th and told me he had on the 18th ?(

also needs alot of prep work for painting. i offered it up to the car and it looks quite good. will offer it up again on thurs (day off) and take pics, see what you all think.

have decided the 16's will be painted with the wheel paint i used on the 15's on sat night, with no laquer as they look so much better without (see pics and judge for yourself)

any comments/advice welcome. No more updates planned till after work has been done in march so you can see how she is now and compare the difference.

look forward to opinions on sunday at the rolling road to (although car will be filthy by time i get there)

i would hate to think what the previous owners would say if they saw the car now :P

Excellent job on the refurbed wheels eflla. :thumb:

Car is tidy, like the new badges where did you get them from? look like the same badging as a fiesta?

Steve, if you don't Laquer them, I think that means they are not protected and the brake dust and crap of the roads will just rip the paint off again fella....

I could be wrong... but they use Laquer for a reason. :)

reading the can of wheel paint, actually not supposed to laquer them - strange i know. yeah i will be using 205/50/16's on the mondy wheels. try and keep some ride comfort and as suspension is standard there are no clearence issues. i might double check with my brother in car first as he is bit heavier than me (26stone) but tyres are being removed on thurs so i can start getting all the corrosion off.

decided to keep suspension standard as when i lowered with gmax shocks and coils on my rover and fitted low pro 16's it become really bumpy and couldnt stand it (part of why i sold it) and as i have to be additional family car it needs to be comfortable for everyone and with 2 disabled parents they dont want it hard. my mum wont even drive her car if she can avoid it as its to firm (99 astra 1.8 auto CDX). my dad gave me evil eyes when i told him i got 16's :P

that paint isnt star silver. its aluminium wheel paint. finish isnt perfect atm as i did it in a rush in the garage with a few heaters on. looks really shiny. not as tacky as chrome would look but nice :)

in reply to lee_2f2f, the badges are actually from halfords, 3 for £5, so cost me £20 :nutter: but does look good.

got the tyres off the 16's today so refurbing will start at some stage, but not rushing as i cant actually afford the tyres atm :D getting 195/45/16 toyos as recomended by guy in tyre shop who used to have an escort GTI with 16's and he tried 3 different profiles and found them the best, so gong with that (he's got a Focus RS now - so jealous).

also tried lacquering my tail lights today only to find one cracked, and long story short needed to re-tint them and after masses of prep work the tint refuses to stick so they are now rubbish. on the look out now for the black lexus lights that actually look nice (like richie-si has). anyone know of any cheap?

I have the same size tyres on mine, 195/45/16. I got Toyo T1R's from camskill for 45 quid each.

Shop around Steve, sure you will find them cheaper somewhere else. :)

problem is i live in a well off area so everywhere charges more than else where in the country (on border of windsor and ascot) and they are the cheapest tyre place within 35 miles and i dont wanna drive for miles to save bit on tyres, just to spend it on petrol. only cheaper alternative is breakers yard part worns but i dont fancy that
