stevmo3691 Posted February 13, 2010 Author Share Posted February 13, 2010 quick update - today i have completely cooked my front brakes. actually started smoking, thought they might catch fire. let them cool down before coming home but now have pretty much no braking at all. prob boiled my brake fluid too. tomorrows job will be changing fluid to some dot 5.1 and fitting the RS2000 front brakes with EBC discs and pads. i'll just have too paint the callipers properly in march, but i need brakes. good news is my back brakes work as i've had to use the handbrake too slow myself down. didnt drive it home, got towed by RAC. lovely chap he was. he's got a Escort Cosworth (daily driver!!) and a MK2 track car. how much does the RAC pay?? stevmo3691 Posted February 14, 2010 Author Share Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) looks like your flexie brake lines are shoot mate mine did the same thing and set fire to the padsi have new ones all round. 2 failed MOT so changed the lot - couldn't afford braided ones at the time. might do that in future found the fault - loose bolts on n/s causing insufficient braking, meaning more pressure which over heated the o/side pads as they were doing all the work. did bolt up properly, re-surfaced pads with sand paper and jobs a goodun Waiting till i paint the RS2000 callipers before doing them stops good now - be better with RS2000's but still better than T*at in a corsa who had to brake sooner, and didnt have enough power to pull away from traffic lights quick enough will have update with 2 very important pictures later Edited February 14, 2010 by stevmo3691 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
