Today has been quite productive.

My brother was round earlier today and removed the entire mess of wiring that was the tow bar electrics. I'm not long in from removing the tow bar itself, and let me tell you that taking off a tow bar that is bolted into about 7 rotten and/or hard to reach places is fcukery of epic proportions. However, it's off now and I avoided breaking anything in the process :O!!

Car goes to be welded tomorrow. Eek!

A pair of scabby front fogs arrived today from escortedal. Between those and the 1 and a half fogs I already have I should be able to make a nice pair and have the front end looking more presentable. Top seller, by the way, as described and insta-postage :)

Also today, these arrived:

Needed some wipers so went for the aero look. Not very exciting, but hey.

Ordered on Sunday and waiting for arrival on these:

Clear front and side repeaters. Should tidy my rust bucket up a treat :)

Hmmm, that sounds awful.... Somehow I don't think Sid would do that.

Or would he.....

Sid let us know how the car gets on at the MOT. Do you know it will fail?

It will fail as although the handbrake is holdings, I think it might be only holding at one side, and it's high anyway. I can't sort it in the snow on my driveway, so I'll let the MOT station sort it out if they give a reasonable quote.

Just back from a shopping spree at Oilman's website:

Fuchs TITAN XTR 10W/40 High Performance Semi-Synthetic Engine Oil -5 Litres

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fuchs TITAN ATF 3000 Multipurpose Dexron II ATF -1 Litre

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Motul MOTYLGEAR 75W-90 Gearbox and differential lubricant Technosynthese -1 Litre

:D

That should fairly freshen up the car and maybe add a few more MPG since I don't think it's seen a service/garage for a couple of years! Good prices at the website with the discount code shown in the for sale section.

I also bought a cheap pump off of ebay for the gearbox and diff oils, since you can't gravity feed them.

I also bought the customary:

:D

Just away to source silver bulbs for the clear lights that arrived during the week!

Fcuking hell, car's back here after some drama on the way (bald rear tyres, lots of snow, battery negative lead jumped off, needed a jump start!).

Car is welded up a treat and has working reverse lights! Turns out it wasn't the switch, it was whoever had fitted the tow bar electrics had run an earth from the brake like positive wire to the boot floor!

Anyway, after a discussion with the guy who did the welding I agreed with him that my shocks were fcuked. It takes waaaay too long to settle at the front and when we had it up I could see that all of the shocks were original items! That's 15 years old!

I'm going to cancel the MOT for Monday and order in a set of shocks.

Got it into the drveway today!

No towbar (rear valance to be refitted as I needed to take it off to remove the tow bar):

For those who don't know what a rusty E36 looks like:

No daylight!!

And yesterday I ordered these:

As if the ones on the car are originals they'll certainly be fcuked too as these are a weak point on the E36 and E46.

And these:

Normally wouldn't go for such a budget set-up, however these have big following on e36coupe.com and come highly recommended for the price.

Just waiting on the arrival of parts and the snow to clear then I can get cracking!
