Well the police rang me yesterday whilst stood talking to Mike.....

Sending me a self filling questionare, sending a letter to the owner of the vehicle that hit mine, checking CCTV in the car park & also called it a section 75 I think??? which is the Leaving the scene of an RTC, also got to print and send the photo's I've taken of the damage in.

apparently there is a massive backlog due to the bad weather... so this could go on for months.......... :(

good to hear, most of those questionnaires carry the same weight as a reglar MG11 witness statement, and save a lot of time for the police... so make sure you fill them out quickly and fully!

you HAVE to call your insurance or you cant claim!

They wont make your premium go up as youre not claiming from them

call them up, tell them what has happened with the reg of the other car and leave it to them

its what we had to do

you only have 24-48 hours to claim. if you dont put in your "notice" you cant claim at all - even off the otherside

Unlucky though mind :(

Already done that hun, I worked for Car Claims insurance for 4 years so I know the stuff.

Told my insurer not to do anything YET, just told them to keep it noted on file that the truck is damaged and MAY need repairing by them... Excess is £300 so in the long run it will probably be cheaper to pay myself.

Here is a pic after I washed it.

What I meant was going to take months was the Police with their backlog. (that is what they said anyway.) :(

Your Insurance Should not go up if you just Notify them, the only way it should go up is if you actually get your car repaired through them, only then should your insurance go up until it is all sorted.

Lets hope the Police up there are more interested then Lee, as we had one of those forms to do too

Me too. ;(

If you can find out who this person is (and if they're local) then I'd go to their house, take photographs of the offending car (of the damage) and then use it if they claim they weren't there.

Not sure if that kind of thing is illegal though.

if anyone can get the offending car's address from the registration then please PM me. :thumb:

I know your saying it shouldnt Lee but I can confirm my insurance rose while it was sorted & no I didnt get the damaged repaired through my own insurance either. As said the difference was returned back to me (around 9 months later).

That is crap that Pete, hope that is not the case with me. :(

I also just noticed that ford have got my reg wrong, lol.

B***terds hope you find em ,cos it may not look much ,i bet it will be expensive :nutter:

It's okay since he won't be paying for it, though.

True Sid, hopefully the other drivers insurance will be paying for it, if the police sort it of course. :(

Surely a policeman with any common sense would got to the registered keepers address and see a mark on the offending vehicle, that's evidence in itself, if they want moer evidence a sample of the paint will sort it...But they won't do that, that makes too much sense/costs too much money.

Gutted for you Lee and I hope the police go to the guys house and pin it on him, I mean, it's not like he's been manouvering slowly and stopped as soon as he made contact (like my neighbour did the other day) he's driven along your car like it wasnt even there.

I know... thats what I don't understand, surely the driver knew he hit my car? the alarm went off for Fcuk sake.

as for the registered keeper, this is why I am hoping one of you fellow members would be able to get me an address, I would go and look at the car and then knock on there door, after taking pictures.

contacted your insurance?

I don't want to go through my insurance though, the premium is already high enough, I just hope the police can sort it out.....

thats why I thought you hadnt called lol - misunderstood you sorry
