Ok so on ok update but no pics, sorry. I have sprayed up both front doors and the bonnet at my work today. Did find a couple of chips in the old paint. So had to flat out the area before continuing the spraying. Got around 3 proper good coats on, fully included with small bits in it, but nothing that cant be flatted out.

I also removed all masking from the shell of the car. Now as its been on so long I got sticky trim :nutter: I know thinners works but thats risking it a bit so may have to find something else.

I also tidied out the car from having pretty much ALL my sh1t in there for the last couple years. Just needs a hoover out and the front seats removing due to sale. Although the car needs to be out the garage to get them out and my battery died! So now thats on the charger

I also have the following week off work so hoping to get lots done. Ill leave the bonnet and doors till tomorrow night before getting them out the way at work and putting them back where they belong :thumb:

Hopefully the weather will stay fine for you next week and you can crack on, are you on track to make ford fair?.

I think so at the minute. Its bound to stay sunny, its like being abroad at the mo! In theory if I concentrate on getting my rear doors finished, I can just pop the bumpers on how they are and get in MOT'd.

Been a busy boy since the weekend. After I finished work I sprayed my front doors and bonnet. I left to dry till sunday eve then bought them home to fit on monday. Came out lots better than the shell too. Still few bits in it but nothing that cant be rubbed out.

So by the end of the day I managed to fit the doors and bonnet. Had to play with the bonnet to get the gap down the sides even. I also sprayed matt black the underside of the bonnet and hoovered the carpet for a nice clean look. I also had to be careful as I used thinners on a rag to clean all the rubber trim around the doors, windows and the piece that runs the length of the roof and down each a/c pillars.

I refitted all the trim in the boot too. Reattached all clips, rubbers, boot catch, the lot. I also fitted my rear lights, false boot floor and parcel shelf. Now its starting to look more like a car :)

One of the best pics :thumb: .......

However the wheels are 2 different offsets and tyre sizes. Two tyres are 255 and two are 225. The 225's fit on the rear fine albeit only just.

The fronts also JUST clear the suspension.

Both front and rear could do with longer studs as theres not really enough meat to get nuts on safely.

Now the front also posses a problem. I know Id need some narrower tyres so if I got 225's on the back maybe 205's on the front?? Bit of stretch never hurt. But maybe also need in a 35 profile instead of 40! You'll see why in the next pics! To go with that, I think I'll need either standard suspension again to raise it up of a set of coilovers. Harsh I know, but when on lock its rather close to the top of the arch..........and the front and back tbh! Along with a smaller profile tyre I could also remove the arch liner for a few extra mm clearance. The wheels look so good Im happy to work around the problem to get them fitted. Harsh ride wouldnt bother me as Id only drive on weekends, plus I dont go far anyway, or standard ride hight I think would be ok too. Maybe just some stiffer springs :thumb: However due to this the black wheels may need to stay for ford fair.

Thats it for now. Im currently working on re-smoothing where the rear arches start to flair on the door. Hopefully tomorrow they will both be ready for paint if not painted. Cheers.

no mate just a tidy up and respray.

Staying white or colour change? At ford fair last year didnt really look like it needed a refresh....Not that I got up that close tbh lol

Really looking good bud!!!

I do have front and rear shocks if your intrested?

The rear ones are new.

Also I do have my old gti seats?

I think Im gonna go coilovers Dale. I like the ride height but just need it super stiff so it doesnt rub on the top of the arch. Dont really wanna spunk silly money though. Seen some AP's for around £400. Dont know if they would suit what I need though. Dont really know lots on that stuff!

I have half leather fronts to go in too. Leaving the interior until last.

Yesterday and today Ive been doing the worst job. Trying to smooth the rear door/arch nicely. Its a right royal pain in the ass, especially the tram lines that run down the door. The lines on the fibreglass kit dont really match the door properly so Ive blended in best I can but its a pig of a job. In fairness I could keep doing minor adjustments for ages but Im hoping what Ive done will look ok in paint.

Mirrors got rubbed down too.

Tidied up the smoothing on both the wide extension piece's and the spats.

Numberplate recess is no more.

Will mark up tomorrow for cutting! Some of the slats are broken. They were a bodged repair before I got the car. I did fibreglass back to normal again but with all the moving around the garage/house/garden its bent and twisted and just cracked again. I'm going to cut the whole slatted section out so once cut will just need smoothing and then all finished. Saw this on a red escort on here ages ago and thought it looked good. The fact that the slats are broken has sealed the deal :D

So today the door are ready for pre paint preparations, so too are the mirrors and bar the section I'm cutting out on the bumper....that's ready too. Another productive day. I'll see how the weather is for spraying tomorrow, if its a bit iffy I'll spray at work on Saturday and bring home Sunday night. That'll leave tomorrow to play with that shite excuse for a front bumper. I've picked up some threaded bar/nuts & washers to make the fixings for it that are missing, Then its onto adding my wide sections to meet the arches. Hopefully more pics tomorrow. :thumb:
