Naylor2006
your old one is a mondeo iscv i have 2 of them and when i tried one the other day, i tried to start it the car made a wierd sound and cut out (didnt like that,so took it straight off) you may find that they are a different connection aswell.rounded as to square. Spoke to a few people who have always said you MUST get the escort one which is why I got this one this time, thanks for letting me know though, I wasnt aware that was a mondeo piece and given its fitted to the Escort manifold its better to use the Escort one. Might explain why my old car (2.0 converted) idles perfect, still using the original finesse part. My car wouldnt cut out instantly unless warm which is so annoying after filling up with fuel, creepy out of the forecourt manually keeping the revs going on some occasions waiting for your spot to pull out. Literally ill be so chuffed, I know ive thrown alot of money at certain bits but a resolved idle could be the most satifying yet. What are you planning to do to yours so sort it? Replacement part? JC
Will be nice to meet you, what do people do if it rains, just sit in cars? JC's 5dr could come in handy lol LOL was done at FITP... just done lie across the back seat as some one always opens the door! I have a product called Optimum No Rinse. All you need it 3 caps full, about 8l of water, a wahsmit and a drying towel. Great stuff for shows. I will most probably be bringing it with me. thanks for volunteering to clean mine
redmex
If the new bits don't sort the running probe, its worth trying a different ECU. My car had 4.5k on it when it started cutting out and sometimes dithering off to stalling. I tried everything from fuel pump to possible air leaks and idle valve. It showed no fault codes and I eventually changed the ecu .. bigger me she's been perfect ever since

Naylor2006
Fitting new inner cv boots today unfortunately showed that my drive shafts were worn, to much play in the ends to refit and worry about later and seeing as its all apart best do it now. Naylor2006
Due to time and needing new drive shafts we wont be dropping the fuel tank this week, not that I think anyone at he Ford Fair is going to care about that, its only to fix my broken fuel sender and replace the paper gasket which is making it smell a bit fuely back there, not the most urgent issue. Good news is thanks to Mattius my ampario tailgate had arrived packaged up like a true hero, quick inspection shows no transit damage so thats made me happy, not sure on paint match yet as apparently there was about 23290381253 different shades of the same ampario colour on the escorts, also how much the paint has faded over the years is going to come into play but the car and it havent been together yet to check, cant be worse than what I have now, will get pictures up when I fit it thursday or friday. So just gotto wait for drive shafts to arrive so the front end put back together, clean up the arch lining and clean the callipers whilst you can get at them, pretty difficult to get to clean them with the wheel on and finally fit the tailgate....oh yeh and have my tracking sorted then fuel it and drive to the hotel. Sorry to post no pictures.

Naylor2006
take the arch linings out to clean Thanks for the tip! Which there was an easier way to clean the callipers other than removing the wheel.
Naylor2006
Bar having its tracking done tomorrow and a hand wash, the car is all ready to take to the show. Had the new drive shafts fitted along with new lower arms and the lot feels alot more sweet more, along with service and the new idle control valve all is running good too. Im so happy ive finally fixed the cutting out and bad idle, no more manual feathering the throttle and also the car now fires up when hot and idles fine without needing a boot of throttle. Its been bothering me since ive owner the car just never seemed to get round to it, something else would always crop up. Anyway, fitted the another tailgate today, my old one was damaged in transit and painted poorly, this one however was packed very well and started its life in the same colour as my car also. Needs a lock though and the yellow number plate screw things, just a temp solution for the moment. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/fordfairprep/IMG_1208.JPG Cleaned up the engine bay a bit, never gonna be as bling as those show cars but looks pretty nice. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/fordfairprep/IMG_1203.JPG http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/fordfairprep/IMG_1206.JPG One from inside http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/fordfairprep/IMG_1209.JPG And the same picture ive taken about a million times. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/fordfairprep/IMG_1212.JPG So thats it, see you all at the show, looking forward to putting some names to faces and a closer look at some of the cars.
