There's 3 in my road alone, one with possibly the worst bumper repair job I've ever seen.

I think a good 50% of mk1 and mk2 mondeos either have different colour or broken bumpers :L

This one is kinda alligator blue, the bumper has a massive dent in it, its been filled with goodness knows what and fibre glass just stuck on top with no paint or top coat, why anyone drives around like that is beyond me.

Do you happen to be colour blind? I was just wondering where you've seen these blue alligators, lol?!

been busy with the ST today after long last.

Moved to a different spot on the drive now so me and dad can park our estates on the drive and less likelihood of someone stealing it (a project car was taken not far away using a hoist):

so job one was remove ruined wing

I'll play with this as practice with the MIG welder

wing off:

skirt off:

bit of rust to deal with:

new wing on:

damage from my crash 2 weeks in to ownership that needs re-adressing:

front impact absorber off:

might need to replace this.....

rusty air con condenser

http://i4.tagstat.com/image08/8/520f/00kX001O58f.jpg

so took it out but to do that means water rad out so excuse to start fitting silicone hoses too :D

http://i6.tagstat.com/image08/8/520f/00l1001O58f.jpg

one ruined AC condenser

http://i3.tagstat.com/image08/8/520f/00l2001O58f.jpg

wonder why AC didnt work :D

good thing I have a new one:

http://i1.tagstat.com/image09/8/520f/00k-001O58f.jpg

Problem is I now need one of these too :(

http://i2.tagstat.com/image08/8/520f/00kZ001O58f.jpg

dont want a damaged water rad on a car thats gonna do odd track day - no failing here thank you

and while I have it all out I have nice access to front manifold

http://i4.tagstat.com/image07/8/520f/00kY001O58f.jpg

so took lambda sensor out as these are supposed to be done every 50K on V6 mondeos and these are original 84K ones

http://i4.tagstat.com/image09/8/520f/00l0001O58f.jpg

so ordering the pair as well as radiator - more money :D

and going to see if this is repairable or needs replacing as I dont like rust especially if it may lead to oil pressure loss:

Nice update fella.

The best advice i can give over the internet for mig welding is

1) Don't be stingy with the gas.

2) Don't be stingy with the wire.

3) When you get it right it should sound like sizzling bacon.

4) Be careful when upping the power, you'll have to move the gun faster and faster or you'll blow holes in the metal!

nice work boss. if u want my opinion id say

- ditch the blue bits

- recon or replace all parts that are bust

- get some st170 wheels on it

- fit all st200 engine parts if not already done

- 3 branch manifolds to complete exhaust

- 300s up front

leave it

nice work boss. if u want my opinion id say

- ditch the blue bits - already underway everywhere but under the bonnet

- recon or replace all parts that are bust - again already underway

- get some st170 wheels on it - like my TSWs

- fit all st200 engine parts if not already done ST200 IM's, 200 airbox, 220TB - more to follow

- 3 branch manifolds to complete exhaust - already have MSDS headers to fit, ones with my friends at dynodaze as they are cutting off EGR pick up and Tig Welding a patch

- 300s up front AP Racing 4 pots 300mm

leave it changing the colour as silvers boring and keyed down both sides with rust repairs to do

Thanks - gonna get as much practice as I can on random bits of metal till I get the hang of it before I start welding bits of my car :D

Your leather repair business must be going well, plenty of wonga being spent on your cars.

Doing quite well thanks although alot of the bits for the ST I already had gathered up prior to taking it off the road and been gathering bits as I go. Have already got genuine ford exhaust manifold gaskets and studs/nuts to fit the manifolds, genuine ford upper IM cover, front undertray as I was missing it.

I'm also looking into back brake upgrade options. at present easiest from appearance would be ST170 discs with mk3 mondeo callipers (same idea as front)

I'm also re-spraying the car myself (properly by building a spray booth as well) but trying to decide between dark satin red with gloss black wheels and satin black with gloss red wheels. At present I'm thinking more the Red with black wheels but opinions are welcome

I'd be more inclined to go with the satin red. Matt black can be a pain as there's no room for errors, if you any imperfections or dirt in it you can't nib it out and polish it. A satin red perl when done nicely will look good specially if the gloss levels are good.

If you need any advice on spraying, prepping, repairing, just ask as I'm a panel beater/sprayer only to happy to help with advice. :thumb:

Was it keyed before or after you owned it?

keyed before but been added to since I got it as used to park in a dodgy car park that we actually used to call the dodgy car park. Same car park someone decided my escorts gti alloys should be black instead of silver so they spray painted my wheels.

Thanks, I would appreciate the help. I'm going to build a spray booth that will sit under my gazebo on the drive (gazebo will keep rain/wind off so can use cheaper wood) and obtain a gravity fed spray gun as I only have a air fed one.

If you wanna come straighten the front end out that would be grand ;)
