blacksofstichill
Cheers, glad you like it so far! This is basically the stage that the engine would be left at (other than a flywheel and crank pulley) when I was saying the cost was £650 plus vat for labour to build one of these. After this stage it's either up to the owner to build up the rest or it's extra to let me carry on and do the rest. This build goes much further though so there are plenty more photos still to come! Stu
Nice work chap. Did you mask off the mounting bolt holes on the cam cover? I've had some leak here after painting before.
blacksofstichill
Thanks Stu! No, I didn't mask of the bolt holes on the Cam Cover I'm afraid. I've done them before without any trouble but it's something worth keeping an eye on certainly, cheers!

When that happens he may chose to fit a catch tank or vent the crankcase to the inlet but I'll leave that decision to the man fitting it as it makes more sense to cut and fit pipework with everything in place in the car. As it is the valve I've fitted will prevent boost pressure entering the crankcase but may not be suitable in the long term as prolonged boost pressure will still prevent the crank from venting as it should. Crank Pulley bolted on -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0397.jpg And that's how it stands just now, getting there! -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0398.jpg http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0399.jpg http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0400.jpg http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0401.jpg Water Pipe as removed from the original engine -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0402.jpg Cleaned up -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0403.jpg Painted with Silver Engine Enamel -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0404.jpg Water Pump is in good order but very dirty -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0405.jpg Pulley removed -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0406.jpg Cleaned up -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0407.jpg Pump painted in Silver Engine Enamel -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0408.jpg Pulley Primed -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0409.jpg Pulley Painted in Gloss Black -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0410.jpg Lifting Eyes and Engine Mount Bracket as removed -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0411.jpg Cleaned Up -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0412.jpg Primed -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0413.jpg Basecoated in Moondust Silver and Lacquered -  http://blackengineering.co.uk/images/David-Newman-2.2-Turbo-RS2000-Engine/0414.jpg I'd just noticed Hightower was asking if I'd also be fitting the engine but sadly in this case I'm not, the engine is heading up to Aberdeen to be fitted by a garage up there. However, the owner of the car has promised to take plenty of pics so hopefully I can get some from him and post them up here for you. At the moment I'm just finishing a full rebuild of a Mk2 Cortina 1600E Crossflow engine which I've rebored, converted to unleaded, etc and next week I'm starting another RS2000 Turbo engine build, this time a 2.0 with Forged pistons and rods. If there's interest in them I'll happily post them up here.....don't want to bore anyone though!
