Craig855S
why strip it down if ur not gonna do anything about the bits that need sorting? just how much would it cost to have it honed and get +1 pistons/rings? or whatever u'd need to do to sort it

Stu
why strip it down if ur not gonna do anything about the bits that need sorting? just how much would it cost to have it honed and get +1 pistons/rings? or whatever u'd need to do to sort it It was already split in two when I bought it, so due diligence was to strip it and check things. Honing it will make the situation worse. It requires a re-bore and new pistons. Not exactly something i'm interested in doing for a runabout. Stu
Won a mongoose exhaust system on ebay (with cat!) for £40 quid.. apparently the tailpipe has a slight dent on it, but that doesn't matter as i'll get that modified to suit the salooon anyway.. bargain! Stu
engine looks nice and clean, clear cambelt cover looks good, wheres it from? cant wait to see pics of the car with the engine in and on the road I have no idea who makes them, but it's a proper injection-moulded one-piece item.. unlike those acrylic ones that were knocking about.. Don't forget, the project now is "get it back on the road - nothing special".. just incase.

Stu
the motor looks nice and fresh stu Yeah it's amazing what a few brand new nuts and bolts can do But on a serious note, it is a low mileage engine (~70k), but even still it's worn to fcuk and really I shouldn't even be putting it back together as-is (especially with the ~£250 cost so far).. mutley
I say you sold out stu but if i were in your shoes id do the same! i cant afford a mini let alone a porsche! if for example i had 25k laying around to spend id buy something loud and lairy still, but it would be more along the line of a TVR, im no porsche fan! except for the gt3 and carrera gt! go for it stu! that way you can use all your parts and build me a simple zt for my car! lol. just kidding! ewww waste money on a TVR... might as well carry on with the escort it'll be more reliable
Stu
I did consider another TVR.. but I really need to build a house.
