Was an ok cheap car 5 years back. Now there is so much more choice and better spec cars for the same money and lower insurance.

Agreed

Last one I owned was the black mexico, that left the road in May 2008, and was replaced with the Volvo.

Money permitting I WILL own another one, but only a cossie or RST.

I still own escorts, the reason? It was something different from sacks, corsas, clios that everyother young person buys. And I can get a bumper for a tenner, uprated brakes for £60, stainless exhaust for £60. Skirts etc etc basically a not bad looking modified car for £500 odd. I'm not moaning :)

i agree. as standard my 306 turbo diesel handled miles better, didnt understeer as bad and went round corners with a purpose. it didnt have any toys mind, but took abuse day in day out. over 40+000 from me with one oil change and driven to the max everyday wheelspun at every pullaway. eventually the clutch went at 150odd thou.

either way yes i like some escorts and miss my 1.8 si but it was never my end goal car. it was what took my eye at the time but was ALWAYS a stepping stone car. yes it was fun to modify and still is to a point but its a car none the less. and it helps i know there niggles.

been about 3mnths and tbh i dont see me getting another unless its a mk1,2or poss 3 as later escorts are rubbish and rott boxs imo.

take in to consideration the above comment has imo at the end of it so i dont need a major big speach on how gd later escorts are and how rubbish my clio is ! i drive many different cars in a year around 5-600 through my work i know a gd car when i drive one and the escort was just a stepping stone from me

the way i look at it is iam not in debt to any one for my car i enjoy driving it and i also enjoy tanking past all u rs2k drivers on the motor way to ford events

I own a 1995 1.8TD LX because it’s cheap to run and keeps passing MOT's at minimal costs (cost me £85 in repairs yesterday to pass). Although the car is slowly rusting away it’s also the car that I can leave in the supermarket and not worry about too much. I am even passed caring about attempts that have been made to steal it.

The car cost me £300, 3 years ago and in total I doubt I have spent £600 on all of the repairs/services to the car and that includes a brand new clutch. Not a bad purchase when you look at it :)

Although the Audi A3 we have on order will be an entirely different story and treated completely with kid gloves. I think will be crapping bricks driving it and leaving it at places to be honest.
