robbie
You gotto get a van now surely for work, these workhorse vehicles have been a right nightmare, alot less to go wrong on a half decent van and you really rely on transport for the jobs that you do. he has been told this before and wont do it even if it the sensible option I'd be surprised if Dominos let an owner driver deliver in a van. I know when I worked for them for a few weeks years ago that the guy came out to inspect my silver E36 and made a face about it having a bit of surface rust. Anyway, stevmo, how did you know the gearbox was knackered in the fist place? I hope it wasn't the same error......there is a driver who works for dominos in salisbury who delivers pizzas in a citreon berlingo van

stevmo3691
no, the giveaways were fluid coming out from between bell housing and engine, not changing smoothly, juddering. problem solved - dipstick in the garage had undone the earth strap in the boot off the body and not tightened it back up so battery was not getting charged properly and caused electrical issues. RAC found it when I was stranded with flat battery in London. garage said my 1 year old battery was knackered causing the fault. RAC said mechanic was a useless something I wont repeat on a public forum Thank god I have RAC cover. for the mileage and driving i do i need an auto and cant get auto van for my money. sortedford
I'd be worried about that mechanic is the same one you've paid to fit a 'recon' box
stevmo3691
I'd be worried about that mechanic is the same one you've paid to fit a 'recon' box I'm going to take the car to a different auto specialist advised by the RAC and get them to check that everything is fine as if he cant remember to do up a nut what else could he have done wrong
stevmo3691
I got a new toy to play with - a proper wet vac. So I treated the whole car to a clean as I havent washed it in a while interior before:http://i6.tagstat.com/image07/8/520f/00ko001O58f.jpghttp://i7.tagstat.com/image07/8/520f/00kp001O58f.jpghttp://i2.tagstat.com/image08/8/520f/00kr001O58f.jpgforgot to do the boot before hoovering:http://i0.tagstat.com/image08/8/520f/00kt001O58f.jpg drivers mat out and hooveredhttp://i4.tagstat.com/image07/8/520f/00kq001O58f.jpg after one go with the wet vac http://i1.tagstat.com/image08/8/520f/00ks001O58f.jpg and this is the result of all 4 matshttp://i5.tagstat.com/image07/8/520f/00kv001O58f.jpghttp://i0.tagstat.com/image07/8/520f/00ku001O58f.jpg this is the boot (still need to do the side bits)http://i7.tagstat.com/image08/8/520f/00ky001O58f.jpg and interior done (shame previous owner washed the leather with fairy liquid as its ruined it so I need a drivers seat and steering wheel to use while I restore mine and the rest of the interior) http://i2.tagstat.com/image08/8/520f/00kB001O58f.jpg floor mat has had over 8 litres of carpet cleaner/water run through it and still looks crap at the heel area but these are original mats so very ground in dirt and due to wear I'm gonna get an alloy plate for the heel area and rivet it on like I did with my old rover 214. and now the inside was clean the outside deserved a little look in as the front wheels were black http://i4.tagstat.com/image08/8/520f/00kx001O58f.jpghttp://i5.tagstat.com/image08/8/520f/00kw001O58f.jpghttp://i7.tagstat.com/image08/8/520f/00kA001O58f.jpg paint needs quite alot of work so when I have time and good weather it will be clayed, machine polished and waxed as well as refurbish the wheels (will do them one at a time using the spare on the car - lucky its a full size alloy)also have rust on the roof from someone not washing bird dirt off in the past and a bit on the o/side wheel arch and fuel filler as well as a smattering of stone chips on the bonnet and couple of scuffs on the bumper. Ideally I would get it fully re-sprayed but I'll see how good I can get it myself. Sorting mechanicals first though. Currently awaiting my IM swirl flap blank plates, IM gaskets (leaking on cylinder 5) and once I have those I will de-gunge the IM as now I have EGR bypass I wont have EGR crap building up in there.Next will be de-cat as both flexis are blowing and why not gain performance and economy. shawdreamer
you do realise that dumping dirty domestic water down a weather drain is massively illegal and often results in fine ranging upto 10k? <googles "water authority"> Edited September 30, 2012 by shawdreamer
stevmo3691
you do realise that dumping dirty domestic water down a weather drain is massively illegal and often results in fine ranging upto 10k? <googles "water authority">funnily enough that drain is in my back garden and is connected to the exact same sewer system as our household drains and is perfectly legal for me to use.Massive congrats for trying to find the only thing 'wrong' with todays work that makes you look to be a total twit

stevmo3691
Nice update. That's a good photo.thank you - look better when I sort the paint properly oh and as an extra bit, the boost issue was down to a dodgy connection of the inlet manifold boost pressure sensor. I've fiddled the connection and its working now but I still get the odd fault code for it so will use contact cleaner and ensure thats working 100% when I do the swirl flap blanks
