It won't be Q-Plated, no. After doing my research, it'll be registered as something like:

Make: Subaru

Model: Mod Ford Escort 2.5

and will retain the original R-Reg.

Technically, you are allowed to use one major second hand part and if everything else is signed as being new parts, you can register it as a new car. IE/ if done now, It'd be an 09 reg. So you could use a second-hand shell and if everything else was new, it could be registered as new. Or if you had a new shell, second-hand engine and new everything else it could be registered as new.

shame u cant register it as 09 then seeing as shell and engine are seconds :(

either way tho its gonna be great, id hazard a guess at a private plate?

and how do they go about it being legal, seeing the noise and the fact its gonna spit flames etc.

have you gotta have it vic tested or anything to make sure the work is up to standard?

An engineers report, MOT and being honest with the DVLA should be enough. There's a guy on PassionFord with a 5.7 V8 Twin Turbo MK5b on an L-Plate who has been very helpful on that side of things.

The shell is second hand, the engine was built from brand new parts and has done something like 45 miles. To get that passed as being brand new would be no problem, lol, plus all the running gear will be new or very nearly new. Either way, I'm still not sure it'd qualify. There are lots of rules and regulations and I'm not really wanting to get into all that!

As for noise etc, well all rally cars and such like for most events have to be all MOT'd road legal, but most of them are blatantly too noisy and chucking out too high emissions to pass an MOT!

if you want to do some track attack stuff, isnt there noise limitations? i.e the ring is like 90 db?

That bridge will be crossed when i come to it. I know someone with an Evo who shoves big ugly things up his tailpipes, and it brings the noise right down, but there are a few options I'd like to explore.

Most Turbocharged cars would be a fair bit quieter than heavily-tuned, screaming NA cars.

Well you'll be in for a treat once the shell is finished, but first things first...

I think we're winning. Once the cage is in, there's a little more fabrication to be done in the engine bay, then prep and paint. Then the shell is effectively finished. There will be a few more bits and pieces to sort later, but that'll be once the mechanics are sorted.
