Stu Posted August 15, 2010 Share Posted August 15, 2010 what have you done to get that speed out a st170???i have done 140 in my focus st170 it had Cams, chip and custom built exhaust with decat..... then the usual filters etc, but was quicker than any 170 i've been in, kept up with quite a few STs I call bs. Stu, who from what i've made out over the years knows exactly what he's talking about.. and as soon as he makes a comment theres always someone who jumps on the old bandwagon.... i'll find out what road it was but it was somwhere inbetween where i live now and catterick garrisson, up near manchester somwhere..... very long very straight gradual downhill 3 lane motorway, thats where the top speed was obtained....... as for the latter comment, would it not occur to you that maybe i do actually have friends who like fords too? outside of this place? who maybe own an ST? Dont think I've been faster than 100 in someone else's car- cant remember doing so anyway, maybe my mate's old Golf back when we were younger.. I always used to like being the driver though until I bought the truck and my parents drive at speed limit so never really been that fast as a passenger! Not sure it's really anything to do with a bandwagon, but more pretty simple logic. Seeing as most ST170s I've seen barely make 170bhp anyway, and they're not the fastest car out there. Seeing as the 212bhp RS didn't do much more than 140mph, I can't really see an ST170 with a few bolt-on-Billy mods doing 170mph. The ST170 is a decent car, especially through the twisties, but it's no rocket in a straight line, not really any quicker than an RS2000 to be honest.
