Craig855S
£400 on an intercooler and exhaust, pattern exhaust a few quid, and intercooler from a scrapper (of which there are MANY) less than £50 Big exhausts on diesels = failUprated FMICs on diesels, no gains for a big outlay .......I'll elaborate on this for you before you start, if you're gonna argue that this FMIC is "saving you money" its not, read my above comment about the scrapyard. And the no gains, I've got an OBD reader on my car and my IAT temps are 1 degree above ambient at 17PSI boost, that's on the OEM cooler, if bought the £400 upgraded one some people buy i doubt it'd go down to bang on ambient, and even so that reduction of 1 degree will not increase power
Danzetec
well the intercooler is broken and i've bodge repaired it. holding well and as my friend helps shaun at racebits he's getting me a racebits alloy intercooler for less than a new standard one so i'll do that. total of an exhaust and FMIC is less than £400 which I can pay off in 6 months so it just makes it easier is all. Wouldn't a second-hand intercooler (sub £50?) would keep the workhorse going? Don't worry, I am good with money. Oh ok
Stu
Craig855S- It's highly unlikely that the charge air at 17psi entering the engine is only 1C above ambient. I wouldn't trust your OBD scanner, or you're looking at the wrong channel.
tomsy
Taking modifying taste aside this dude has some serious bad luck.Someone else on here had a little bad luck sorry couldn't resist that glad your car is all good now So i just read stevemo used to be a banker or is he just dyslexic, and i must confess i to am a stevemo fan

Or maybe if I actually kept it at full bost for more than a couple of seconds at a time i'd see higher temps...for the most part Im rarely on boost. The temp does begin to rise when the car sits for a while, but it quickly falls when your moving again
scottybo
i dnt rly know a lot about dervs tbh i wlda thought a fmic and zorst etc wouldve made sum difference to a diesel, at least a little i mean those 2 things alone on ay half decent petrol engine would see decent gains in both torque and hp as always im sure u guys will correct me im wrong! (itching for another shawdreamer comment, seriously i laugh everytime i read one of his)

stevmo3691
silencers restrict the turbo spooling up on the tdci/tddi mondeo so removing them (ford removed the mid on later tdcis but legally have to leave one on and the DPF) and i'm not putting a massive exhaust - 2.5" inwardly rounded tip.The IC is quite small in terms of flow rate on these and are well known in the mondeo tdci/tddi world as something that needs upgrading but not too big as obviously too big and you loose power. One i'm getting is dyno proven (before and after with temperature results recorded to prove temp reduction) and since these parts will fit any mk3 mondeo diesel whether its 01 TDDI like or an 07 2.2 ST I can sell them on when done or if I replace with a later tdci can re-fit. same with the de-dpf (cat) and panel filter and some TDCi's use the rear mount EGR like the TDDi although as i'd want a 2.2 the EGR bypass kit wouldnt fit but oh well. So i'm getting parts that have a proven performance advantage as well as proven economy advantage (turbo spools quicker = less strained engine = better MPG) that I can keep for another car or sell on. make sense to me and I did used to work in a bank and I am dyslexic as well to answer that question
ScORTED
You do mean well Steve, but you'd better off selling things like that and keeping your cheap workhorse as a cheap work horse, selling your various items/unfinished project etc and having a pile of money to do something else with

JAMGTI
+2, does this mean this lot CLICKwill get more power/torque if they made the ic smaller. £400 seems a lot to spend on your workhorse, why do you need more power/torque to deliver pizza?( or aston martin white wheels) Since buying this how much progress has been made on your show car ST? is it still on axle stands? you said the SI needs work for you to sell it, why not do that instead of expensive parts this car doesn't need. Still think you should scrap the ST and put the V6 in the SI and have a cool retro(ish) show car and the diesel as an every day car. or get rid of all 3 and have a ST tdci like Mcric and mod that. We all do stupid things when we are young and spend more money than we should on car but you are something else. i am a stevmo fan to
