lee grout
Well its been a while, a long while. Too long infact. But with busy work and parenting duties Im not gifted a....satisfactory amount of time to spend on the car! I did however have one set back, all of a sudden the car stopped starting! Just randomly. A few people suggested things on here, I also consulted my friendly garage across from my work place and the main culprit under suspicion is a busted fuel pump. Anyway, as Its in the garage (facing out) I have no space to get the bugger up and look for myself, such a tight fit I couldnt even be arsed to try to be honest! As it cant get out the garage the work left to do has been postponed up untill now. The father in law is bringing home a trailer for me to use and it'll be going down the garage on wednesday to be fixed....at last While its down there he's also going to fit my rear beam ( recently refurbed) and mondeo/st170 brake upgrade. I would of liked really to give it a go myself but with lack of time and being a mechanical noob I'm leaving to the pro. Plus He'll fit it correctly 1st time and lets face it safety comes 1st. Rear beam pieced back together today befor the rain started.http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Picture003.jpg No pads on yet, got some ferrodo's with the beam but they have seen better days. I'll wait and see if he reccomends I just get new ones to be safe. Also refurbed my newly aquired set of morettes. Finished in matt black at the mo, may be subject to change for gloss black.http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Picture004.jpg Also it turns out I have a bib for a cossie bumper, not a cosworth 'style' bib. ( that would almost be too easy) Anyway I'm debating whether to have it sit like in the pic's or raise it up to fit more like the cossie style bib's. I think I actually prefer it lower, I dont like how the others blend right up into the grill. Let me know your thoughts anyway! Need some opinions.http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Picture001.jpghttp://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/Picture002.jpg Also he's gonna fit my tow strap while its there. Gonna cut a slot in the tow hook, hook the strap on via the end plate then weld it back up. Saves me drilling holes and bolting it securly. Looking forward to getting it back from the garage and carrying on with the project. Comments welcome.
Naylor2006
Been waiting for this update! Rear beam looks sick, hope you get it running again soon too. Are you gonna use dual lenses in Morettes or induction trumpets?

Are you gonna use dual lenses in Morettes or induction trumpets? Both lenses i think mate. No real need for induction purposes. But then for the look.....I could change my mind. I do that like the wind.Lol

sortedford
Dont cut up a carbon splitter Though if you do fit one fit it as it is in the pic
Ahmotorsport
Huzah! Glad to see it's still moving forward even if it's slow. If i'm honest, i can't see a difference between how a cossie bib sits and this one...
lee grout
Dont cut up a carbon splitter Though if you do fit one fit it as it is in the pic Haha. Its not a 100% carbon. think its fibreglass backed with carbon top layer. It cant stay carbon look though. Where it has been bashed a bit, its got 2 areas of cracks and scuffs which look tatty. I can just repair with fibreglass then spray it! Though I would of prefered carbon look if the cracks werent so obvious. Huzah! Glad to see it's still moving forward even if it's slow. If i'm honest, i can't see a difference between how a cossie bib sits and this one...This one is for a cossie bumper. The cossie 'style' like for sale on here dont sit so deep. Look at minirotty's, in the middle it more or less sits right up high to the grill in the bumper.
Naylor2006
Must be easy to figure if the fuel pump isn't working, key in position two and you can hear if it primes or not right?

Hence why its prime suspect. Lol

lee grout
Well after winching it onto the trailer tuesday night my muscles are fooked We towed it out of the garage and then winched onto the trailer, slight hill too so was fair to say it wasnt easy. Once done my arms felt like popeye but now they just feel dead! Anyway got it down there and unloaded ready for the investagation/work to begin. Unfortunatly at the end of yesterday I was greeted with not 1 but 2 lots of bad news! Not only did the car not start after he did all the usual checks 1st but one of my calipers snapped where the bolt sits through. http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/P1020924.jpg Just a shot of the beam. You can just make out the braided hoses all nicely fitted.http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/P1020925.jpg Here is a shot of the front. There was some confusion whether the hoses I have are correct. It didnt look like it would fit where the small pipe joins the flexi hose. Hopefully the hoses I have will be ok. After the bad news of yesterday I got in panick mode that everything was going pete tong The cv boot was shot too, leaking everywhere so he replaced that while it was up on the ramp.http://i743.photobucket.com/albums/xx80/the-jonsonator/P1020926.jpg Things did perk up when the auto electrician turned up. I only work over the road and kept looking to see if he was still there! I went over at T time and was glad to see he'd gone. It turns out that it is indeed a faulty fuel pump. Should have one by saturday ready for him to fit monday. Just need to source a new caliper and jobs a good un as they say. Roll on getting fixed and bring on some sunshine
