Audi S2 Coupe - 2.2 20v Turbo

Well, the issue is that I've already sold the regulator currently fitted to the car as I knew I had this one coming today so I could change them over tonight. Calling Audi tomorrow to see if the repair kit is available (they said there was no such thing when I called, but I've since found a part number). If it's not then I'll refund the guy and take the cable and regulator off of the brand new frame and try and fit that to the older shape frame. What a fcuking mission, honestly.

Bought another set of clocks and the hose needed for the aux rad bypass.

I promise some actual pics of progress soon rather than just parts on my fcuking bed :\ Never been so frustrated with a car nor the weather.

rubbish luck as usual... I do hope this doesn't become another evo "I've bought this awesome bargin performance car... oh wait its a total pita living with it"

Wish you the best of british scottish matey

Cheers mate.

Window issue will be resolved one way or another this week, at any cost. Got far too much going on in my life just now for this to be taking up so much of it.

If I didn't have such a fantastic missus who has driven me to and from work most days then I'd have packed it in by now.

Like I say, this window will get sorted. I'll weigh up my love for the car after that. I'm not generally one for quitting though, and if I overcome this nonsense, then the rest should be a piece of pish

I live 35 miles from my office so when the engine needed changing I went to live with a mate for a 5 weeks only visiting the missus 2 weekends, it's nice to have someone who supports you even though I'm sure she wishes i had a 3 series diesel.

You know i want you to succeed so I'm looking forward to less of the bed and more of the whip.

Can't you just bond the window in place and still use the car?

I'm getting lifts off the missus too for the next four weeks.

i might be wrong but i think he neds to use it ( automatic barrier in car park or something)

Yeah.

Audi still sell the repair kit which is just the bowden cable and and bit that attaches to the motor rather than the whole frame. Getting one in for Friday.

What have you done with all the other regulators? have you been able to return them or are you about to have the most expensive regulator in history?

First brand new genuine regulator has been sold, at a loss, but an acceptable one.

2nd one from Bulgaria with the manual winder, no chance I'm paying to send it back there, so I'm lumped with this. Folk tell me a coupe with a manual winders is amazingly rare so the regualtor is worth a fair bit. Not sure I can be hooped trying to sell or post it though.

3rd one is getting shipped back this week for a refund.

It's more the time and effort that has been the real 'cost' during regulator-gate :|

  • 3 weeks later...

Oh look, Sidrick's bought more new bits to photograph on his bed and never fit!

Took advantage of the once-per-year nice weather in Aberdeen today:

The aim was to see if I was able to remove the rad that had started to weep and isn't really needed and remove the alternator ahead of a new one arriving next week. I'm not much of a spanner monkey and the access is limited with the bumper on, so I figured I'd just see how I got on.

Inventive removal of the aux rad:

Old (Roose) and new hoses:

Air con rad. I think that'll be the next removal that I do. F*ck having all that weight up front for a system that is never likely to work again in a 21 year old car:

Alternator out. I would literally have killed for a 17" ratchet spanner for this job:

Naked :(

Waiting for a 17" ratchet spanner to arrive before fitting

You can live without ratcheted spanners ? How have you ever changed a Mk6 bumper without them ?

I need a standard set, stubby set and swivel head boxful before I open a bonnet. Laziness is horrible disease.
