Where it had been moved from pillar to post it had cracks in all paint/primer layers. Ended up sanding majority of it down to rid it of cracks. Not, like in my case, over paint/primer as well as bare plastic! I may just use a few cans of platic primer instead of the 2k stuff in the gun! cheers though. From what I read it said if the adhesion promotor cant go onto areas that are not bare plastic as when painted it wont stick right. It said if its on any areas already partly painted/primed to wipe it off! What a good additive to add to make it more flexible? On eBay it's known as a flexible additive follow instructions and guidelines to see how it's used and the right mix ratio. The plastic adhesion promoter is just a dust coat leave each coat for 10 minutes to fully cure to achieve proper adhesion, use only two coats mind no full wet coats Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

lee grout Posted May 30, 2013 Author Share Posted May 30, 2013 Small update but no pics as the computer wont recognise the fact I've slotted in a SD card The inside edge of the rear wheel arch/skirts have now been filled and sanded. I have also taken a stiff brush to the rear arches to rid them of massive amounts of crap and dirt collected there over the years. I may give them another going over with some water too to get them that bit cleaner, not that it really matters lol.That now (bar general pin holes here and there, front bumper and the rear doors 'tram lines') is all the fibreglass/filler done on the bulk of the body Tram lines are a right pain as the arch is slightly different than the door where to two blend in As for the front bumper............. ......Its dead! A gust of wind blew it off the top of the rabbit hutch( where it had been fine for weeks)! The blended in tow cover had a crack, as too did one hockey stick where a small amount of f/glass/filler blended it to the bumper. I tried to lever it off in order to re-stick it and the side of the bumper was fairly brittle and just snapped off! I went to put it on the table and it tried to fall off.......So I helped it on its way! I'd had enough. What with cracks apearing through the copius layers of someones previous paint job and other such things. The rage took over and so i gave it a right royal a55 whoopin from a size 12. Fair to say it was completely fooked (that was the idea) but it had relieved the rage that had been brewing inside! I rescued the hockey sticks and small extension pieces that meet the arches and have just found a replacement bumper for 25 notes. No cracks, no multiple layers of paint so its all good, starting with a better bumper in the 1st place . This time i dont think im gonna blend so much in so I dont get cracks. Think ima get it to fit nice and tight and just glue it, we'll see. I also sprayed a wing in ford monza blue to see how it looked. Along with matt black wheels it looks really good.......but I found a nicer blue on ebay! We'll see on that though, I change my mind like the wind. For the near future though its wet n dry time. After popping out this morn to pick up a new car I had from lunchtime onwards so decided to wet n dry. Jesus what a ballache! The wet/dry paper seems to wear down really quickly, thats means LOADS of rubbing and not getting that far! I decided to start with the back end of the car as that area will probably take the longest. Hope that over another couple evenings and weekend I can get it all rubbed down. Just a couple little holes to fill that I've found so far, nothin major by any means. I did wish I had only primed the areas I repaired/worked on. All the top half of the doors didnt really need priming so I created unneccessary work Oh well, thats how you learn for next time!
